javier0889: I don't really get the hate towards the first Torchlight. I mean, hack and slash games can get old a little bit fast, but other than that it's pretty good. And you could play the single player campaign offline, which some other games starting with D and ending with iablo 3 couldn't say.
Lack of multiplayer affected the first Torchlight, maybe?
hedwards: Because it's tedious. It starts out OK, but the game outlives the amount of actual gameplay by quite a bit. I tried playing it and it was fun for a while, but after a while you wind up with just the same thing over and over again.
It's the same basic problem that Diablo had, but because Diablo was something that was more or less new, it was a bit easier not to realize how mind-numbingly repetitive it was.
That's what I meant when I said hack and slash games get old pretty fast. You can only click and upgrade your gear with ph4t l007 so many times. Still, I'd say both Diablo and Torchlight have their own charm, even when considering their shortcomings.
