Why are there no Tomb Raider games?? They are my favorite. are there any games similar?
Patience. Eidos just arrived at GOG. Tomb Raider games on the way.
I myself a month ago or so bought those a bit newer raiders from steam. Didn't remember that they were so good. (and I've played the original in playstation) That what ever it was (crystal dynamics?) should continue Blood omen-series.
I mean Legacy of Kain. There is legacy to be had.
Though.. Seems interesting that new raider which is coming.

I only played the older ones (1-3) but I have some of my favorite gaming memories playing them. I was a bit peeved back then at all the 3D nonsense being used for everything despite its infancy, but TR was probably the first time I was like, "this game is what 3D is all about."

Hopefully we do have them coming down the road now that Eidos is on board. (provided they have all the rights and what not.)

Fu*c. I made a long story and it didn't let me publish. Anyway, the first made a big impression for me and those 4 and 5 were a bit boring. Just for that I think there are 3 raiders. most of them were Indiana jones.. ^^

Dynamics did a good job making those less crappy again. So there are 6.
And hopefully at some point a great seventh is born. Well.. I also miss good silent hill games.

Well.. Isn't the 4. the last good one. I liked it, not much interested in 5.
I just hope that if the TR games come to GoG, they include the PC-only addons (Unfinished Business, Golden Mask, etc).

I loved the brutal difficulty of some of the puzzles/jumping pitfalls etc, and also that "completely alone" type of environment in the game, if you get me.

The Room being what it is is one of my favorite games.

I played original and all other (silent hills meaning, well before), I thought 4. would be pretty mediocre. I was wrong. It was almost great. Fifth.. I could try it still it though. But Silent hill wasn't supposed to be some "see all the colors-rainbow land" anyway.. sad story.. at least the first 2 or 3. I still think that even 5 res evil was good but it isn't the same what it supposed to be. A freaking new Alone in the dark series (well, first did it great). Tough battle between res 1 and silent 1.. I still say silent wins, because of originality.

Edit: and camera angles

I liked SH4, I thought the whole "Room" idea, with the portal in the bathroom to different "worlds" was really novel, it worked up my imagination a bit. Though in terms of horror, it wasn't really scary, SH1 is scary, being alone in the dark with that flashlight in the hospital or the streets probably won't ever be beaten in a horror video game again. Especially since all horror games these days have abandoned 2D fixed perspective with pre-rendered backgrounds, and become utterly crap as a result (cough Resident Evil cough). Also Downpour is going to be fully 3D, and you can bet it won't be scary as a result, get ready for boring flashing images and grinding on monsters for hours.

Edit: does anyone remember that level in TR1 with the giant rats?

In fact fear 2 did one school scene so good that it reminded so much about silent hill (well there were no pink bunnies) Just in first person. They made that good. i wished a lead pipe then.

Giant rats? Doesn't ring a bell just the thousand times when I was axed or spiked.
I think the level with the rats was called "the cistern".

You had to pull levers to raise and lower the water level to get to the end of the level.
You know, I played 2 hours about the legend, I was bit stuck for a while because I didn't get it that it used now some gravity thing. Nowadays playing mass effect 3 but I'll be back in fear and killing endangered species.

Just a custom level pack that might tide you over.
