That's your choice. As far as I know nobody is forcing you to take care of any animals.
To me, how we treat each other, animals (and to a lesser extent the environment) dictates the kind of people we are. If someone would abuse something so completely defenceless then they deserve to be locked up and kept away from society.

Animals don't produce garbage, they also don't produce art, despite whatever creations they make, they don't make art, they make tools designed for a specific purpose. Animals don't make computers, they don't make cars, they don't communicate on the same levels that humans do.

I don't understand your objection.
The problem wasn't that the cat was killed, it was that it was abused. If a kid was blinded, suffered severe head trauma, couldn't walk, and had his/her jaw bone ripped down, there would be far more media coverage and far more outrage.
Anyways, the legal penalties for this crime isn't as large as if it had happened to a human. The max this guy could get is two years in jail and a $10,000 fine. If he had done it to a human, he very well could have gotten life in prison.
We consider human life to be more sacred then that of other animals. I'm not sure why you're so upset.

I can certainly agree with you on this aspect, we should care about animals, I personally just dislike them, and feel as if we should focus on each other first.the problem is that this is considered news worthy.

It's considered newsworthy because the perpetrator hasn't been caught yet. Anyone who would damage an animal like that is a threat to other humans as well.

It's tasteless, showing shocking behavior, with a cruelty no animal being capable of... in short: everything for a news story is right there.
