Tallima: All of the bad reviews that I've seen are listing the things I like about the game as negative. And then they say they're negative because the first Thief didn't have it or it is implemented differently.

I guess. Whatever. As I said about Blacklist and Conviction -- everyone complaining seems to have not played the game. The game itself is different than its predecessors, but still very good.
I really dislike that type of thinking. "This is different from the old game, so I hate it even though I haven't played it."
I haven't played this Thief yet, so I won't say anything about it. But all the complaints remind me a lot of when Human Revolution came out.
People were saying the game was terrible because of the 3rd-person cover system, the takedowns, the color, and everything else that was different from the original Deus Ex. Most of these people complaining had not played the game. There was even a mod made for the original game that parodied all of the "bad stuff" from HR. This mod came out about a week after HR was released, which makes me doubt that the maker actually had the time to play the game, then create a pretty good mod for DX so quickly.
Even I was skeptical about the new changes, but after playing the game for a couple of hours, I found that I really liked the cover system and the takedowns. I thought they were implemented very well, and that those complainers who hadn't tried it yet were really missing out.

I'm going on too much about DX in a Thief topic...
My point is that it is good to be a bit more open-minded. You will often be happier that way.

Watching the TB video it seems that despite the obvious shame that it is a reboot and is missing classic voice actor it looks like an overall well done stealth game
Although I haven't seen if the supernatural elements of Thief of old are still in since no review seems to mention (I hope they are since they helped game feel unique)

So far, I've seen enough supernatural-magical something to give me a feeling that there is something like that going on. I'm sure people try not spoil the story.

And I actually like the new voice actor either on par or even better than the old Garret. Both did a fantastic job.
Please tell me you can turn off the constant button prompts. I hate that kind of sh*t.

Yup. The UI customization is quite amazing, behold

Thank you. That's already a huge relief. Now to wait for my game key....
Regarding the UI, I saw this post on NeoGAF on how you can customize it to your liking: UI Stuff.

Very nice! I remember they had similar customization with Human Revolution.

I don't understand why more games don't have simple UI customization like this. An ugly and obtrusive UI can totally ruin a game (F.E.A.R. 2 and Invisible War instantly come to mind.)

And it is VERY nice to see that it has an FOV slider. This should be mandatory for any first or third person shooter.

Thank you for this! I think after I finish the game, I'll give it a run-through with the UI off. I have it on the hardest difficulty setting, which seems to be right for me. But I'm stilling needing some indicators for my sorry butt. :D

Quite a few scores listed from various mag reviews...

yup, bugs abound... still playable though. First time I chose combat... this particular level had guards on alert standing right in front of every door I had to walk through... It got old so I took out my frustrations.

... it was a good shot, though, right?

On the reviews, most of them are fair. Buggy, but still fun and even excellent in some places. I am curious... what difficulty level they are playing on. I'm not seeing dumb AI. if anything, I'm seeing extremely alert, tricky, well placed AI. Occasionally, it gets easy, but it also gets very challenging in places. (on the default Master level).

hucklebarry: I haven't head shot anyone. (nor have I entered combat). There are no quick time events. I have "swooped" once in the training mission and that is all. Just like the first 3 games... just because they give you the option to do things, doesn't mean you have to do them. They added MORE choice, which I can't fault at all. If you played the game and don't like it, that is fair, but you can't go by what others who also haven't played the final version are saying.
That's why I said not all of it made it to the final product. They had all the above (and more) before the game came out and started changing it because of the huge fan outcry - a few months before release. It's quite obvious that they had a certain vision about the game and wanted it to cater to as much people as possible and that's the final result.

Indeed. It's a pity games aren't pushed for a technical standard with requirements such as these.
What do you guys make of the pc gamer review?......

If the game were moddable then I suppose there was a chance that we might still have a proper theif 4.
A couple of questions. How is the save game system? Do they retain the save game anytime anywhere system or do they switch to checkpoints?

Is it possible to switch to third-person perspective like in TDS?

Do your loot/gold and equipment get reset in the beginning of each mission like in Thief 1 and 2 or do they accumulate like in TDS?
