hansschmucker: I don't understand the joke, could somebody please explain? Do you think that the graphics are too demanding for consoles? Or the game too violent? Or the story too complex? What do you mean by "HARDCOR3"? And who or what is?

.......on a site that sells PC games.
Anyway, the console industry has gotten FAAAAAR too stuck up it's ass these days.

Zombus: Do I need to remind you that it's ~all the same with the pc gaming industry? Neither DRM nor precipitate releases are the pride of creation. Besides, does anyone remember the (good ol') days when games used to be released in ~real boxes with more content on average than some of those so-called collector's editions nowadays? Being either pro PC or pro console and looking down on the other one seems rather foolish if you know how things used to be...

You are quite right, I do FONDLY remember those days...*sigh*
And yeah, I'm sorry. Just get a little belligerent now and again.
Personally speaking, I am glad that The Witcher is coming to consoles. Perhaps when the console players see the depth of the story as compared to other games they will begin to demand deeper games for their respective consoles. Then we can all enjoy something original on a console without it feeling like there is something lacking in the gameplay or in the game's design in general. I hope CD Projekt makes a ton of money in this because then (I hope) we will see deeper and more involving games on the consoles rather than the standard JRPG and FPS stuff we see nowadays.
Besides, if CDP makes more money from the console game then that means they will have more money to make other games for PC (and more clout for the GOG side too!) and consoles.
I guess we will just have to wait and see what happens....

Bicro: PC version forever.
It kicks too much ass for consoles.

THIS KIND OF ASS?!

That's what the combat's like? Well, thanks for helping me decide not to purchase it!

Yeah, it's kind of hard to understand the reviews when it's like that, I'm guessing they probably really meant for it to be isometric.. I don't know, I haven't tried. I was really disappointed in the combat as well.

I wouldn't really bet on that. Not to undersell CDP RED's skills or anything, but getting people to play something they're not used to is no small feat. Granted, the Witcher isn't that "hardcore" an RPG, but it still might be hard to get into with its non-standard game world. I would say I'd have more faith in the Witcher taking off if it was the other way around, the gameplay being more "non-mainstream", and the presentation more appealing, as that has been shown to work before (see Advance Wars for turn-based strategy or Team Fortress 2 for team-based FPS). Still, I'd think it'll gain a relatively small but dedicated following, at least allowing for similar games to be made, even if not vastly expanding the possibilities.

I've only played of the game's demo, but didn't encounter bugs like that, so I don't suppose it's all that common.

Nope.
This is how the combat is :D. However, I've encountered Weclock's bug a few times as well.
However, if you want your game to be nice and polished, rather play Mass Effect - technologically great, not so great story-wise and character-wise though (Witcher sure has one of the best characters in gaming history... IMO)
Weclock: I'd reccomend you try and give the game another shot: A loooong shot. You seem like my friend, who absolutely hated technological inperfections in the game, and, because of that, game itself. However, he finished the game 2 times now, just because story was so good. As he said, he won't ever like The Witcher as a game - however, he'll always love it as a story. Maybe you'll end up the same...
Edit: I sure like word 'however'...

Oh I'm still gonna play it.. and if that's a bug, you might want to help me out, because it's happening all the time.

After watching that video, my head promptly exploded and my fingers hit the buy key on Steam. Hope I don't have the same problems Weclock seems to be having!
Weclock: You are still in the prologue, aren't you? It is not a bug. You are supposed to be immortal, because prologue is some kind of tutorial. Play it through prologue, and begin first chapter - from there enemies will cause damage to you. Prologue is in my opinion the weakest part of the game - later parts are much better.

It's not about being invincible, it's about the poor animation...
it was very frustrating to say the least, it was not what I was expecting.

Anyway, play it little bit longer. Maybe first chapter will change your mind. Geralt should perform normal series of swings with sword, not standing with it raised. Maybe it is some king of bug - it did'n happen to me. Oh, and you have only basic attacks in tutorial, they aren't spectacular or impressive - later combo chains are very pleasing to watch.

I intend to continue playing regardless, just because the animation was messed up, doesn't mean the game is bad. Some games don't even have animations..I just don't have a lot of time on my desktop

I guess you'd better ask on Witcher forums, since I have no idea what could possibly be causing it... It happened to me really a few times, so I wasn't really even trying to do something about it

You know, combat is not THAT good either :D It's just very... Watch-able :D To be honest, I thought my nephew had a better time watching the game than I had actually playing it :D
