Weclock: Oh I'm still gonna play it.. and if that's a bug, you might want to help me out, because it's happening all the time.
avatar
Fenixp: I guess you'd better ask on Witcher forums, since I have no idea what could possibly be causing it... It happened to me really a few times, so I wasn't really even trying to do something about it

TheCheese33: After watching that video, my head promptly exploded and my fingers hit the buy key on Steam. Hope I don't have the same problems Weclock seems to be having!

You know, combat is not THAT good either :D It's just very... Watch-able :D To be honest, I thought my nephew had a better time watching the game than I had actually playing it :D

Crap. Oh well, it should still be fun, seeing as I love a good story.

Maybe you should try a demo first. It features prologue and 90% of the first act. Just remember that it doesn't have enhancements from EE.

Fenixp: Nope.
This is how the combat is :D. However, I've encountered Weclock's bug a few times as well.
However, if you want your game to be nice and polished, rather play Mass Effect - technologically great, not so great story-wise and character-wise though (Witcher sure has one of the best characters in gaming history... IMO)
Weclock: I'd reccomend you try and give the game another shot: A loooong shot. You seem like my friend, who absolutely hated technological inperfections in the game, and, because of that, game itself. However, he finished the game 2 times now, just because story was so good. As he said, he won't ever like The Witcher as a game - however, he'll always love it as a story. Maybe you'll end up the same...
Edit: I sure like word 'however'...

Well, what do you know. I buy it, and have the exact same issue Weclock has right from the get-go. Anyone have a solution here?

Hmm... I've red Enhanced Edition-patch should fix a broken combat... However, I kinda assume you HAVE EE, don't you?
Edit: Gonna google some more...

Yes, I have the EE. Googling as well, let me know if you find anything.

I found the solution, email cdprojeckt asking why such crappy games? lol hyuck hyuck.
just kidding.
Can you believe they actually recommend updating tages?
otherwise apparently for us retail buyers, of the NA version (mine was pegi, so I'm confident it's not NA) there's no blood! see here for patch

But will a patch fix the Steam version?

I believe usually the steam version is updated to the lastest patch, and as such, would be fine as well. Just sharing for any retail Witcher EE buyers.

Aggh! Everything I've seen of this game (save Weclock's video) has been so awesome, yet that damned "sword over head" bug won't go away!

So in other words the reason it's doing that for is is we're playing it improperly? Fantastic. I'll try to master the combat.
hey anyone know if I can add the witcher to Steam (not just a short-cut, but the whole she-bang with download capabilities) if I buy from a retail store? Is there a way to activate it or does it need to be purchased directly from Steam to do so? I'd love to have the Steam back-ups but I can get a MUCH better deal elsewhere
Sweet Jesus, timing the blows works! He still waves his sword around his head like an idiot when not attacking, but at least I can get him to swing now.
By the way, is that "sword above head" thing intentional for the game, and if so, does anyone know of a mod that makes him hold the sword in a different fashion?

granted i haven't played the game yet, but aren't there different fighting styles in the game? Does switching them do nothing?
There are three sword fight styles: strong, fast, and group. Each style is represented on screen by different sword position and pose of Geralt. Try to switch styles while not fighting - geralt should change position of the sword (sword above head - strong, sword at the height of waist - fast, sword near knee - group). It is good visual indicator which tells you what type of style you are using currently (but, it might look stupid for someone).
