Mobidoy: Yeah well on our side of the ocean, there was about no advertisement done for this game by Atari so, there was no real hype, I learned about it on release day and while searching for a good old style RPG. It was buried on the 3rd or 4th page in google.
But I could be discovering it with you, yeah I have had the game for over 2 years now but I never got past early chapter 2. Not that I dont like the game but, when the game was released, many had issues with it, I went on the forum for help but there was not much there so, I fixed mine, played till after prologue and went back to the forum. I liked the game so much that I wanted others to enjoy it to. So I start help them troubleshoot their computer (cause most of the problems were related to the users computer. I tried couple of time to play it again but always spent most if not all of my spare time on the forum.
I dont regret it tho, I got to meet many great people. The joy and excitement of those that I help get the game running properly worth more to me than many other things.
I was excited to hear about Witcher but . . . having decided that I had had enough of DRM on my systems . . . followed it only long enough to hear if it had DRM. Then, like you, I heard it had lots of issues. Somewhere in there I found GOG and now have more "new" games to play than ever before.
I do like a good RPG game and eventually heard many more good things about it. I had stopped following it until chautemoc mentioned that it was DRM free in another thread. You joined this community today . . . answered my last few questions . . . now I have another great game to add to my collection of DRM free games . . . best of all . . . it's only three year old . . . sweet!
Got the patches downloaded this evening, try to pick up a copy over the weekend but . . . may be months before I get to it . . .=)
Edit: Thanks for all the links . . . real time saver
