Thanks for your generosity, everybody!!

I'm in for Metro 2033!
As for your question, it's really difficult. I'd really want to see how the Dinos lived, or our ancestors, but surviving for 6 months in those times might be a bit difficult. So I'd probably go some...hmmm....100 years in the future and hope humanity hasn't exterminated themselves till then :D
I've got so many answers to your question, Thespian. To just pick one it'd be....
Hmmm...this is a hard one. :P
I'd go to late 12th century AD, Jerusalem. I'd prevent the Battle of Hattin ever take place and thus the Crusaders' crushing defeat would never happen and no loss of Crusader States especially Jerusalem. I'd prevent the war broken out between Crusader States and Saladin's Sultanate, at least not in the circumstances of that time. This means Reynaud de Chatillon's raid should never happen.

Not far from that time, early 1200s, I'd prevent the Fourth Crusade happened or directed at Byzantine Empire! This would hurt the relations between the two great Christian Churches permanently and contributed to the fall of Constantinople to the Turks.

Spinorial: Still, I've always wondered how things would turn out if in 1944 Rommel had taken command and opened the western front. Lots of unforeseen, vastly different, consequences in that one. I'll want to flesh this out a bit further, but that's the main point of it.

-- Total Annihilation: Commander Pack for me, let's get this one out of the way :P
-- Patrician IV & Rise of a Dynasty for Recsam511
-- Metro 2033 for MunkiSiren
-- Slam Bolt Scrappers for Black Dawn
-- Krunch for lugum
-- Cognition Ep. 2 for benderz
-- Cognition Ep. 1 for DeMignon
-- Anodyne for JogsterXL
What do you mean Rommel opened the western front? You mean like Rommel takes command of Ardennes Offensive?

I'd save him and his family from Hitler if possible. Maybe there's no better way than to surrender to Western Allies or negotiate peace. This is for Germany too. Their defeat was almost certain. No need for further losses of life, as the result seemed to have been concluded. I'd also prevent the "unconditional surrender" agreement amongst Allies ever exist, which was to please the Soviets. Thus total war for the German people is not necessary. No need for further huge civilian loss of life.

Maybe I'd agree with Patton to attack the Soviets before they got stronger, subjugating Eastern European countries. West Allies could afford it. Get rid Stalin off Russia and the world!!!

I'd like to enter what Spinorial entered for, Thespian. Total Annihilation for Spinorial and the rest is exactly the same. :P

Thanks to generous contributors ISC, Robette, Lemuria, Lugum and especially the host, Thespian*.

I mean pack up and leave, in the summer of 1944. Once the Allies had successfully landed in force, there was going to be no conditional peace, and most German generals realised as much. Rommel had command of the defence of Normandy and retained it for a while after. He was in a position to order a general retreat, offer no resistance to the Allied advance, surrender troops where necessary, ship as many to the Eastern front as possible. He was quite loyal to Hitler, but was also a competent enough strategist to realise the futility of fighting in the West. Fighting in the East was futile, too, but at least it would have bought some time and allowed the Americans to advance and take Berlin, rather than the Russians. Eisenhower and Montgomery would have been quite sheepish and would certainly have needed the time, though Patton would have been halfway to Frankfurt before Ike even knew it :P

Paints quite a different post-war picture. I'll still need to add a few more details to the main description, though thanks for the support :-)

Hardrada: I would go to the US, late 2012, and I would be buying lotto tickets.
Classy one. ;)

I've got bad news for you, Reever... 100 years in the future, humanity is extinct and dinosaurs rule Earth again! :p

(blame on the owners of Jurassic Park and their careless genetic experimentation) :D

All of that in six months? You sure are a workaholic, Chev. :p

le_chevalier: [...] I'd also prevent the "unconditional surrender" agreement amongst Allies ever exist, which was to please the Soviets. Thus total war for the German people is not necessary. No need for further huge civilian loss of life. [...]
From Wikipedia:
It is felt that Roosevelt made the announcement in a maneuver to effectuate two goals: One was to keep Soviet forces engaged with Germany on the Russian front, thus depleting German munitions and troops; and secondly [it was] to prevent Stalin from negotiating a separate peace with the Nazi regime.

Also:
Both Winston Churchill and Joseph Stalin disapproved of the demand for unconditional surrender, as did most senior U.S. officials. It has been estimated that it helped prolong the war in Europe through its usefulness to German domestic propaganda that used it to encourage further resistance against the Allied armies, and its suppressive effect on the German resistance movement since even after a coup against Adolf Hitler.

You both would need to have Hitler killed in advance, no chance of a German surrender with Hitler still alive:

On March 19, 1945, he ordered a massive scorched-earth campaign throughout Germany so that absolutely nothing of value would be left for the victors. This included the complete destruction of all German industry, communications, agriculture, mines, food stuffs, railways, ships, roads, bridges, stores, shops and utility plants.

“If the war is lost," Hitler told his Minister of Armaments, Albert Speer, "the nation will also perish. This fate is inevitable. There is no necessity to take into consideration the basis which the people will need to continue even a most primitive existence. On the contrary, it will be better to destroy these things ourselves, because this nation will have proved to be the weaker one and the future will belong solely to the stronger eastern nation. Besides, those who will remain after the battle are only the inferior ones, for the good ones have all been killed."

Yeah maybe there's much more I need to read about the details...

July 20 plot was so close to kill Hitler. Just move the bomb one or more feet, would do the job. Killing him is just one way to remove him from power. It's more important to topple Nazi regime by any means.

Personally I think unconditional surrender is unnecessary. Nazi regime wouldn't last anyway IMO even without Allies destroying Germany as in history.
Not in, but thanks for an awesome giveaway, Thespian* (and thanks to all the generous gifters as well.)

I'd like to think I'd go to some place and time of great significance, but chances are I'd fold and just travel to 1967 and follow Pink Floyd around Europe to catch some shows while Syd Barrett was still in the group. Either that or I'd blow it on a chance to party with Harry Nilsson for a couple days. ;)
Timely BUMP!
Due to poor planning it appears that I'll miss the results of several giveaways including this one(I'll be away for 10 days with no Internet access). I'm leaving this message to signal my understanding should this disqualify my entry.

Of course not, Madalin! ;)

Thespian*: (snip)
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -----------------------------
To enter the giveaway, just tell me what time and location you'd choose and what you'd do there. ;)
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -----------------------------
I would really like to go to 2075, Texas USA, specifically I'd want to be in a relatively open area but with natural resources around in a location that should WWIII start and be a nuclear war, that it'd be safe. Then I'd like to look up my children and grandchildren to meet them. Plus presuming we're not all back to the bronze age after a war then I'd like to charter or sign on as crew of some sort in any spacefaring vehicles so that I can enjoy some solar exploration (or extra solar depending on drive technologies) or at least get to experience it before having to return to my own time. Might even give me a few ideas to 'invent' paradoxes be damned.
