Oh, Suffering, that was ... Awesome game :D One of the best horror gaming experiences I've ever had. Really, this game scared the hell out of me :D And great story and character design, too
I downloaded it to play on my laptop at my future place :)
I remember this game.
This was a fantastic game and I had so much fun playing it. The voice acting, the art, using baltimore as a location (also the location in the show: Homicide).
It was a horror game yet at the same time, not as sadistic as say Manhunt.
The moral choices you had were also good. Too bad they ruined the second game with starforce DRM for the PC version. I tried playing it on the xbox but I could never win the last boss, the controls were too bad.
This released for free is seriously pleasant news. I wonder why they did it though. But either way, great game. Those who have not played it, you'll enjoy it.

sirfalas: the controls were too bad.

I'm not saying this is true of you, because I don't know you, but the majority of gamers who I see say the controls were horrible, just didn't know what they were doing. There are a number of different ways to hold a controller, a number of different ways to use a controller.
I was also going to say, I've never played the game, so I don't know about the controls.

Hmm, I was talking about the controls for the second game on the xbox. I had no problems with the controls in the first game (I played the first one on PC).
But specifically, my complaint is the fact that I couldn't aim very well during the last boss fight (and I remember the boss moving everywhere) and I couldn't attack him very well.
Maybe you're right in a sense that I didn't master the controls very well but I don't know. Aiming using the thumbstick in the suffering: ties that bind wasn't good and had little precision.
Never heard of this game, but thanks for the link! Will definately try it out.
Great game. One of the best ever released by Midway. Maybe not as mean-spirited as "Manhunt", but it was really sadistic and treated the characters badly. The title is very descriptive: we see lots of suffering.
The sequel wasn't as good. It tried to explain too many things from the story of the first one, and it was too convoluted.
Just FYI, the Prince of Persia, Raving Rabbids, and Far Cry files won't work, all files that are downloaded now will not be activated by Ubi.com. They canceled the free promo because it was supposed to be US only but they didn't have IP blocking so people from other countries were saying they were in the US (or at least thats how I read the announcement on the FilePlanet page).
Thanks for the heads up. I always wanted to play the suffering.
I got the Hidden & Dangerous free package last year. Had a fun time playing it.
The graphics haven't aged too well, but you soon get immersed. The gameplay is good (if with a few quirks you need to adjust to) and there are a few bugs. But once I got past the first level or two I really enjoyed it.
I might check out PSi-Ops... i heard it was pretty good.
(thought for a minute it was Second Sight... which was horrible.....)

Well, there's another 4 or 5 games that will not be on GOG now! Well done GOG Fans! LOL!
I heard Action Doom 2: Urban Brawl is really good. Totally unrelated to doom really.. though it uses a heavily modified version of the doom engine.
Also, I just finished playing Iji, which is an awesome freeware side scroller from Remar Games. Basically made by one guy.. but better than a lot of professional games... kinda metroid meets deus ex.
