Elmofongo: I did heard Medieval 2 is the most polished game in the series.

Fenixp: It's got the best siege warfare anyway, as far as I'm concerned. You get to siege these actually quite massive cities, often with more than one layer of defense. Really cool. All in all, yeah, I'd say Medieval 2 is my favourite of the series, along with Rome - make sure to grab the expansion, it adds a lot.

Just note that the fact I've not had any issues doesn't mean you won't.
I especially cannot wait to use the 2 awesome mods for the game, Middle Earth and Hyrule is gonna be awesome.

Speaking of Total War why has there not been a "Modern Warfare" Total Warfare. At least either World War 1-2 or even current Warfare now?

The only thing I can see why not is because modern style warfare with automatic FireArms is much more chaotic and dynamic compare to the predictable style warfares of ancient to imperial ages.

retsuseiba: I *think* Dark Messiah worked out of the box on my W7 64bit. The only error I recall having was when quitting the game, which (apparently) did nothing.
Just tried running Dark Messiah of Might and Magic on my Windows 7 64 bit and can confirm the above. It runs fine, but when I quit, it produces an error that seemingly does nothing at all.
I wish there were a legit way to get Dungeon Siege 2 + Expansion... Unfortunately Broken World isn't available anywhere.

The middle-earth mod is absolutely fantastic. Never played Hyrule, but I can definitely vouch for the former.

Well, yes, that. There's always Empire and Napoleon, of which I have especially enjoyed the latter (probably due to the theme) and those either introduce or polish up very fun concepts which significantly changes the gameplay around. Shogun 2: Fall of the Samurai uses firearms in quite a fun fashion as well, and mixes them up with the original, meele-focused combat of the previous games AND there are sea battles to top it off (... and yet I liked Napoleon better than Shogun, go figure). Nonetheless, all of those were based around battle using tight-knit formations of troops, which are relatively easy to manage from gameplay standpoint. World War 1 and 2 were a lot more chaotic, especially the second one (speaking of, Brothers in Arms are fantastic games as well), so the Total War formula would need to be changed a lot more. That being said, I do think that World War 1 setting would work really well with Total War games.

Elmofongo: Thats what PC Gamer says:

If so I like to know certain Steam games before I buy them if anyone does own these games or at least has info. Does any of these games work right out of the box?

Dark Messiah of Might and Magic
Dungeon Siege 1 and 2
Brothers in Arms 1 and 2
Medieval 2 Total War

Any of these games have any technical issues like color problems and the like?
- Dark Messiah of Might and Magic works right out of the box.
- Medieval 2 Total War works right out of the box.

Brother In Arms 1 and 2? I don't know. Dungeon Siege 1 and 2 DOES NOT work right out of the box. I have a Intel HD 4000 though so maybe that is why those two Dungeon Siege games did not work for me.

I have Empire all ready. I have heard that the game at launch was a disater like Rome 2.

But has the game mostly likely been patched to a Polished state?

Mine did not. I manage to make DS1 run, but it shuts itself down within 3-5 minutes. I am also right now on integrated graphics, so it may be the problem.

thats probably it
im running an geforce 8800

i do have a laptop with a intel 4600 might try that
I've played Steam's Dungeon Siege 1 and 2 on a laptop with integrated AMD graphics and completed them both with no problems
My wallet is.. Weak for this year.
I've never been less interested in a steam sale before. I'm kind of broke, and there just isn't much that I'm really wishing for that is steam-only.
And the Steam has begun. And it is the most boring sale since, what, 2011?

Just a plain old Daily + Flash deals. Holiday cards only serving for holiday badges, and holiday badges don't even give you F2P items like the Summer and the 2013 Winter Sale did.

The auction was great, but now the sale is just so anticlimactic.

I'll probably get Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance by the end - its allready 80% off. Dunno what else they could pull.

Doing the flash sales every 12 hours (instead of 8 I think it was before) and doing the vote every 24 hours (instead of 12) is probably one of their better ideas. One vote = 1 card also a good idea.

I agree day one is pretty lackluster for me but it's only day one.
