Crosmando: I feel so cheated GOG, how could you do this to me, I thought GOG release was the assuring of a good game
Surely, GOG would never in their right minds release bad games. They wouldn't ever dare do such things! =P
For certain horror/adventure stuff casualization might end up making it less frustrating where it doesn't need to be frustrating. However, to see whether that actually helps in this case I would actually have to play it.

Speaking of Penumbra, I'm stuck in that steam puzzle in the area after the drill. I will just flat out say it: having to dodge the steam blasts under threat of instagib is absolutely awful and kind of rips the immersion of the game through the arse and up the eyes. I felt like I was failing at Super Mario Bros.
Avoiding that kind of crap by making it more "casual" is, to me, not a bad thing at all (which Amnesia certainly did do right).

WBGhiro: To be honest Sensible Soccer and some other interplay titles that some could rightfully consider sub-par were on here since the site started.
you mean Sensible Soccer 2006, which wasn't even developed by Sensible Software and so was sacrilegious to even be called 'Sensible Soccer'
The Sensible World of Soccer game on here is actually really good - for a football game...

I'm glad I'm not the only one who feels this way. I'm really glad I preordered Outlast now instead of Amnesia, even if Outlast's ending did suck. I started watching a playthrough to see if I liked The Chinese Room's take, saw how laughable it was, and ended up watching the entire game simply because it was too bad for me to worry about spoiling it for myself.
Oh god, Rome 2 apparently sucks as well

and a metacritic shitstorm:

I liked the close up shots of soldier faces. Nosferatu were drafted back in the Roman days, apparently.

I haven't played the new Amnesia game, but I would like to come to it's defense.

From what I understand the horror is more supposed come from the story, as opposed to the mechanics.

Which explains why the mechanics are different and that it's linear.

It's basically a spooky story with minimal interaction.

I think the devs accomplished what they set out to do, but I am not sure why it's considered a sequel.

One of the first ever releases was Earthworm Jim 3D.

Yet somehow this perception persists for so many. Even today.
The Chinese Room sold out to Sony so I doubt I'll get this.

I'll definitely get the next Amnesia by Frictional even though I've only played last the first level and water level in the original game.

The last line is the main reason we don't like it. When something is advertised as the sequel to Amnesia, we expect it to feature at least similar mechanics and a terrifying atmosphere. Especially considering some of the big things they advertised were that the game would by no means be a hand-holder, and that it would be even more tense than the original Dark Descent.

Mainly, I think the big disappointment is that we wanted a successor to Amnesia, yet we received a successor to Dear Esther instead.

Crosmando: Maybe not subjective values, but quality control perhaps
Is the game buggy or broken? Because that's what quality control means.
Well I pre-ordered it here, so I'm off..

...and it just crashes at start-up. annoying.

Huff: Not trying to hijack the thread, bu not got a reply elsewhere.

Concerning the current pick five promo......Amnesia or Penumbra for the money..thanks in advance
The first Penumbra bores me to sleep, which is pretty bad for a supposedly-horror game. People have told me that the sequel is better, though, so I might give it a shot at some point anyway.
