Momo1991: I'm too tired to find actual proof but I remember hearing that most women are turned on by almost any kind of porn - m/w, w/w, m/m, kink etc... while men tend to be extremely particular in what turns them on...
Just thought I'd point that out in this thread that seems to say "Oh women only like point & clicks, HOG's and casual games" - the dichotomy just struck me as peculiar ;-p
As someone that don't really like watching porn, i wouldn't really be much surprised if that was the case. :P

Piranjade: Interesting. Did you avoid those "mostly male circles" because you were shy? Or were you afraid that they would, as they ended up doing, treat you like a "unicorn"? As for the internet...yeah, it has definitely become the place where prejudice has found a new home. Hopefully, that too will pass out of fashion some day.
Piranjade: I was kind of shy until I was 18 but I didn't avoid these circles.
It was just that I had my (female) friends and could live out my hobbies with them to a degree. Nights of playing Super Bomberman on the Super Nintendo or having a Diablo 1 LAN party, or just sitting on the floor playing MtG. Or just playing computer games on my own. I kind of didn't need those "mostly male circles". Also the "mostly male circles" often seemed to be much more serious or even professional about my/their hobbies than I was and I found that stressful.
I was quite shy too, and well still am (although the internet has helped me be a bit less timid so yay!), so i mostly kept my gaming hobby to myself. Coupled with being an introvert and having social anexiety... i was prettty awkward around people. So didn't really talk to a lot of people as a kid. >_>
My biggest influence with gaming back then was from watching my grandfather play games such as Tetris, Caesar, Civilization, Imperialism and Monkey Island so was only natural i grew to like those games. I'm pretty new to the rpg genre though, didn't get into it before 2002-2004 with Diablo 2 and Neverwinter Night 1 and from there i learned about DnD and got into that. Just a pity i don't know any gaming circles in real life, so i have never played DnD but i have read most of the sourcebooks (at least the forgotten realms ones).
ddickinson: But just be aware that there won't be any lesbian popcorn pillow fights in that one ;-)
What about gay popcorn pillow fights? ;)
