Yes, Yes and Yes to your questions. Mainly yes to the third one as if we get it here, there's a chance that we might also get Skyrim and Fallout: New Vegas, which at the moment are on my "don't play" list because they need Steam.

I've always liked the Elder Scrolls games; they're very accessible RPGs.

I'm confused about the auto leveling part?

Did the enemies not get stronger as you level up? For one if you get to say Level 21 than Minotaurs Lords will appear in the world and not only that the Minotaur Lords will get stronger and stronger as you level up onwards because the monsters level up with you. Making them even stronger than you could ever be.
Oh, TES IV...

I have very fond memories of this game regardless of it's flaws and super-bright colours.
If only they would still use the same skill/level-up system from morrowind...

oblivion is one of the worst RPG's if you can even call it like that, it is more like a 3D simulator without any content. If you play it with around 50 mods it is playable but plain vanilla hmpf. The combat is simplistic and there is no open world in oblivion. Everything is scaled to your level so that even an idiot can play it. God thanks there are real RPG's out there and they are here on GoG like gothic 2 gold or baldurs gate 2 which are some real RPG's not a joke like oblivion.
I found it a terrible game, but a great engine and modding playground. Of course it'd be great to get it on here. It was released DRM-free in its day.

It also has the notorious fact of being THE game that established DLC (with overpriced DLC at that) as a thing.
Not a good game but not a bad game. Thanks to mods, it is possible for this game to become a good game. So why not have GOG sell it, DRM free.

Yes.
Yes loved it back then, still do now, despite it's glaring flaws.
Without a doubt yes. Oblivion on gog means Bethesda on board.

... there is no open world in Oblivion? Please tell us your definition of "open world" then.

Well the amount of quests even if all are fed ex type does not mean the game gets great or...
Everything is scaled to your level so yes you can go everywhere and it is open but nothing surprising happens.
Obliviion is the true Mc Donald's of RPG's. As simple as possible nothing that could motivate a gaming veteran to play it.
Never played it.

I played Arena...and Daggerfall. Then I had life happen to me. Got a job, met a girl, got married, got another job, had a kid, had another kid...had another kid, had another kid, got another job, had another kid...you now life.

I did get Skyrim for Christmas when it came out though ( That wife is pretty cool ) so I have played TES I II and V

I enjoyed the whole custom spell making part of arena, and Daggerfall was a bit buggy so I never got to complete the story.
The Elder Scrolls games are very frustrating. I love the feel and play of them, but Morrowind - which was hugely ambitious for its time - ultimately felt too samey and empty; Oblivion, which should have been the best game ever made, was destroyed for me by the switch in philosophy to auto-leveling enemies. So when you're level 2 the bosses are level 4, and when you're level 21 the trash minions are level 20. Between that and having all areas auto-spawn sword fodder, so that nothing can ever be cleared out, the game became an endless fight and lost, for me, most of its sense of strategy and excitement.

Sadly, the new design was the basis for Skyrim, which is why I never rushed out to buy it; I'll grab it when it goes on sale for under $5 or so. Because I know I'll never really enjoy it.

I guess some people like auto-leveling, I just find it silly and dull.
Well... the Dark Brotherhood quest line was awesome, and that's about good things. :P
Never played Shivering Isles, was it any good?

Hehe, I was the listener and everything else in the game. Actual found the main story quite good and then should have gone to this portal, but it was all so fluffy and I went back. So I have the addon, but never went there for some reason.
Please, I've just barely played TES: Arena...

No, the amount of quests doesn't make a game great. However, you overuse exaggeration as means of expression so much, that you literally talk bullshit - like your no content / not open world claims.

By no means I consider Oblivion as a shining example of RPGs. But neither would I consider Gothics approach of respawning the complete gameworld with new enemies once you reached a specific plot point.
Edit: and the fed ex type quests? Your examples of Baldurs Gate 2 and Gothic 2 avoided that trap. Oh, wait. They didn't. You can take any RPG and boil down almost all quests to fetch / kill quests. Your point is?

Not liking a specific game or approach and being critical is one thing. Trash talking however, isn't being critical.
