My summary of thoughts so far...

- Hey MS, you can try to run the living room but as soon as someone like Apple makes a good set-top box specifically designed for internet and streaming video and music you will be completely outclassed. I would focus on games and business software, as you always have. Also none of your exclusives really matter to me. Another Gears already and an another annual Halo? Lordy.

- AC3 was sold to me on announcement, not watching trailers.

- Dead Space 3 coop worries me... coop and horror seem like opposite ends to me. Trust that team though, will buy optimistically.

- Far Cry 3 sounds like fun but nothing special. New Ubi IP I forgot the name of is exciting.

- NEW PAINKILLER BY COMPETENT DEVELOPERS!

- Sony has some cool exclusives and I look forward to getting a PS3 soon and getting my console on.

- Star Wars TOR will be completely free-to-play in a year.

- God dammit I wish giantbomb would upload their day 0 podcast in mp3 so I can download it.

Overall pretty boring... few announcements, no new hardware... treading water until next year. I couldn't care less about Nintendo, so... pretty much over already I guess.

This tbh it's pretty much the year of confirmed rumors. No big announcements for late 2013/4 means new hardware due next year for MS. No big announcements beyond early 2014 means new hardware for Sony later that year. MS should have had Lionhead do something on the new dev kit and gone "and here's a sneak peak for something next year".

Also sony if your gonna have non-sony controllers on the floor at least cover up the ring of lights :S

I, like many others I am sure, am dying to find out how powerful their next machines are going to be. Will it be top of the line, causing a massive increase in graphics and an upgrade to my PC? Or will it be a minor jump that focuses on new control methods or service applications?

New proprietary control methods could cause the return of exclusives and harm the PC. Brand new high tech hardware could cause some of the PC momentum of the last couple years to stall as people look at the new oooh shiny. On the other hand a minor jump and traditional controls could mean the PC has a real route to further increases.

Interesting stuff. Eager to find out!

Most of the rumors are pointing to 7870 level graphics in the newer dev systems from MS I'd expect PS4 to run the gen after this since they are releasing a year later (I highly doubt AMD will call it the 8xxx series for obvious reasons.

I'm guessing Smart glass will be a feature of the controller for MS but since thats looking portable to windows it shouldn't lead to major controller issues

Sony is another ball game though we have had no real leaks apart from the AMD GPU leak.. rumors are pointing to a krishna APU (AMD's next gen APU) possibly with stacked memory chips on die (theres a picture floating around of a test chip from an AMD show with stacked memory but the name is blacked out (meaning it's not for AMD to sell themselves so it could be MS or Sony).

Tbh though I think MS may be missing a trick with Smart glass it shouldn't be too hard to leverage that tech into making their games playable anywhere they could basicly out do Sony's playstation phone system. "We don't need a phone specially designed for our system just download the app and play!" and have Nokia offer phones with features like slide out controllers as an extra thing...

wodmarach: In other news Watch Dogs is confirmed as being played on PC and isn't runnable on present gen consoles (suprisingly it looks like the wiiu was included in that statement...)

Neobr10: Nope.

"UPDATE: Ubisoft has since amended its official materials, confirming the game for Xbox 360, PS3 and PC."

Elmofongo: So far my biggest dissapointment with E3 is Resident Evil 6...........I will counter any argument as best as I can that people say it's still a survival horror because it's just another non-different shooter and anything that makes the game better actually ruins it as a survival horror
(like moving and shooting)

Neobr10: Mine was Dead Space 3, you know why? Because on RE6 we all knew that the series had taken a different direction, focusing on action rather than survival-horror. It has been like this since RE4 and got even worse on RE5. Im not saying these are bad games, theyre good action games.

But on Dead Space 3 i was expecting some horror experience found on the first ones, but from the gameplay they have shown and the fact that its a coop game it seems they might have taken the same approach as RE6, focusing on action. I was affraid that would happen, and it did. Dont get me wrong, i like coop, but i seriously think coop DOESNT fit in an horror game. The sense of being alone is essential for a survival-horror. At least, for me. Dead Space 3 looked more like Gears of War than the first Dead Space games. It was a huge disappointment in my opinion.
Exactly I remember people commenting in gamespot and ign saying,"nooo they turned RE into another call of duty clone guess it's dead space 3 for me" even though what makes you think Dead Space 3 any different I knew they were going to make more action especially with addition of armed human enemies
Stupidly enough I have watched both the MS and Sony conference and have been bored shitless by all their corporate bullwank.

I hope there are some interesting games that aren't shooting and stabbing nonsense on the show floor, and possibly something interesting to be revealed by Nintendo today (though I'm not holding my breath).
The Wii U's social integration looks tacky and unwelcome, and the fact that they are going to offer a 360 clone controller for "serious" gaming--despite the tablet controller including all the same controls--says a lot about the ergonomics and level of third-party support. Nintendo seem to completely misunderstand mobile platforms, expecting players to access information through mobile web browsers instead of making proper apps.

Xbox Smart Glass is much more promising; using an optional device with a separate backend means players aren't forced to make use of its features and developers can push the same content to a website or dedicated app much more easily than with the Wii U. Nintendo portrays the Wii U's game help and web browsing as dedicated functions that interrupt gameplay whereas with Smart Glass you could merely switch away from the app without affecting the game.

I'll be interested to see whether Sony responds to this by upgrading their existing PS3-Vita integration functionality, which does some of the same things but not nearly so seamlessly.
Too much ots cover shooter, fps, kill and run, and action games. They look identical.

Yeah despite us all talking crap about it Smart Glass may actually be the big reveal of E3 all told. If the patents floating around from MS are a real thing they're integrating it into their next controller aswell...
So people are heading into the Ninty show...and on screen are all the games we saw yesterday
ummm what the hell did I just watch?
