Congrats, guys, I've been waiting for Arcanum ever since my CDs gave up the ghost. Now - about that Microprose thing... :)

summitus: Thanks , I love GOG and have bought about 10 games already, but tbh the timer was a little lame .......

Well from a marketing point of view its got to have been anything but. It did drum a whole lot of interest and discussion here and on news sites. if it was just another announcment it would have gone by with out a peep!
The website was quite slow at 12 pm today ;-)
Lots of people have been wondering what the timer was all about. And a deal with Activision is great news indeed! I'll be sure to buy Arcanum sometime soon :D
It's still slow. Expect it to continue for a couple or three days :P

MicroProse...
Just thinking about getting Master of Magic\Orion, MechCommander and Majesty makes me lightheaded. That would rival getting SSI and SSG. :)
Great job with Activision guys. This bode well for the future. :D

Vandal: Hey folks! So yes, lots of you guessed correctly... not sure how our rather obvious hints (especially the Ohio one) really did any less to ruin the countdown than the CNET exclusive...

Don't worry about it. Some people will bitch and moan about anything. If the clues weren't obvious enough they would have complained about that too. The Cnet exclusive only made it obvious to those not paying attention in the first place.

Yeah you must be right .... I've just added Arcanum to my account too !! :p
Bravo GOG, im very happy and to hear you were behind the announcement and trumped the Apple... that is a big deal... and that Neoseeker article was very eye opening...
Here Here GOG! CHEERS!

There are many reasons this is a good thing. Firstly, it's good for GOG, even if you don't find much you like in Activision's catalogue. It's still a milestone.
Secondly there's a lot of old IPs that Activision has from companies they owned, like Sierra. GOG have a whole month set aside just for Activision games now.
Thirdly it will green light the site in the eyes of many publishers that are on the fence.

Totally. Well done GOG! Now please give me battlezone, and I will be happy.
This is turning out to be a nice cheap week for me , got Psyconauts of Steam for a ridiculous £ 1 , and now Arcanum for just £3.50 wooooot :p

Vandal: Hey folks! So yes, lots of you guessed correctly... not sure how our rather obvious hints (especially the Ohio one) really did any less to ruin the countdown than the CNET exclusive... but hey, I do apologize if anyone took offense to seeing the news there early. As I noted in another thread, we don't get a lot of opportunities to work with big news announcements, and whether you're a fan of Activision/Sierra/etc. or not, it's obviously a rather big deal in the grand scheme if we can get front-page coverage on CNET on the same day as the iPad announcement :) So again, sorry if it offended you, but hopefully we can make it up to you with some great games!
Check out this article at Neoseeker, too -- http://www.neoseeker.com/Articles/Games/Features/activision_joins_gog/ -- should give you some insight into why this is a big deal, as well as the process of signing someone like this.

I'm not offended by the leak, but it shouldn't happen for the next big announcements. I agree with you that it can also be seen as a positive thing here for my favorite site, as it was side by side with the iPad news (there was even a possible joke here at this thread, of gog games running on the apple tablet).
I hope to see a lot of interviews featuring GOG in the coming weeks, ok? And congrats for the team, for bringing Activision so soon here. ;)

An interview once in a while sounds good to me too. I'm wondering if there is a chance that someday we see a chart with the best gog sellers.
This has got to be the only thread that has amassed 1000+ posts in such a short span of time.
well im not sure how they fair on this but I'd be pretty interested to hear the sales figures for these to games in a weeks time. It does appear that arcanum may be an instabuy for quite a few on here and I just wonder about the numbers. I'd imagine one of the quickest and due to the hype, biggest sellers maybe...
