I'm visiting the Community Wishlist for the first time in ages, mostly to vote for Fallout games, and it seems that gog has not improved it after its revamp one bit. Apart from that, it is obvious that not many gog users know or remember that it exists because many great games, especially recent games, barely have a few hundred votes. I'm a bit surprised of gog not using it more. I always thought that it would be a great tool to convince IP holders to put their games here: "look, this many people could potentially buy your game outright". But looking at the numbers...

Maybe they are looking at its poor state and consider that it is not worth the effort, but there are a couple things that they could do and that require a marginal effort. First, clean it a little bit. No duplicate entries, no entries with multiple games, no expansions or special editions (games on gog tend to be the complete edition anyway). And second, make a monthly summary on the news section to bring awareness. Just mention some milestones here and there or some interesting new entries or maybe some "editor's favorites" from people working at gog. The content is irrelevant, it is just an excuse for the community to remember it and share some games they want votes for.

Speaking of which, you could aswell vote for World of Goo, , [url=http://www.gog.com/wishlist/games/gone_home]Gone Home and the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. series. Because, why not?
I rarely use the personal wishlist let alone the community ones.

Highly unlikely they'll appear here anytime soon - if at all - with all the legal problems GSC is having - including war over the IP rights.
So am I.
WOW the Michael Palin on GOG, can I get your autograph? I loved your work with Monty Python! So your in Spain now? I love this community!!

There's a side-wide rewrite underway, I expect it also includes/ addresses the community wishlist.
The news headline suggestion sounds like a brilliant idea to promote it though.

Can't believe this still happens, but no, I'm not the original Michael Palin, it's a nickname, :(
I sense hilarity about to ensue!

No reason not to vote for them, though, assuming you'd like to see them here. Let the owners and lawyers worry about how it would happen. Fans are supposed to demand what they want and then pay their money when it gets here :)

I go through periods where I go down the whole list voting for stuff I'd like to see, but often I just forget where the wish list is. It seems like it could be made more visible/accessible.
It really works both ways, though. I've voted for 100 games, and of those, 11 have been fulfilled. Of those, I'm not aware of any that I haven't bought (from a quick skim of the all-time list, without hiding completed). In some cases, I've even bought games I have no intention of playing (WC Academy & Armada, DX IW) just to spur support.

So I'm doing my part, but are the publishers listening? I'd be interested to know if there's a follow-through percentage on those wishes (percentage of voted-for games that were later purchased upon availability) and whether that stat is "good" or "bad" relative to what the publishers are looking for before signing on.
I'm not even convinced GOG uses it as a compass for their priorities.

That, or Disney really doesn't want to make money off easy Grim Fandango sales.

For the record, I think it's safe for me to come out and say this:

We do use the wishlist but it's not the only thing we use when we decide whether a game should be on here. If we only used the wishlist, you'd never see some great series such as Geneforge.

Heck, I personally use it myself as seen and [url=http://www.gog.com/wishlist/games/savant_ascent]here.

tl;dr: we use it but it's one of the many tools at our disposal :)

To be fair, it's not that I'm concerned that you're not reading it, I'm concerned that Disney/Take 2/Microsoft/etc. aren't reading it.

For the record, and I think it's safe for me to come out and say this, here are two more ways they choose the games.

I can't speak for those companies hence the reason I was clarifying the statement made by solzariv :)
