Celton88: This game looks awesome. I really hope it comes to GOG

darkangelz: Gog is missing out. The game is now availible for preorder on several places but not here yet, altough the description say it will be.

awesome!
Looks really awesome, think, I would preorder it immediately if it would appear on GOG.
The game is up for pre order on Steam.

Seriously why is it GOG doesnt get ahead of the competition and instead waits for everyone else to do stuff first?
Oh God that UI, that big fucking ugly Fisher Price UI.... it's the curse of the tablet, Shadowrun Returns all over again. This is what happens when you design the game for both keyboard/mouse and touch at the same time, instead of just focusing on PC and then making a new touch UI later.

Jesus, it's even got a big radial menu for characters with huge buttons....

I thought it was supposed to be a PC and Mac game? (checked on KS.. nothing about tablets...)

Having said that, with the way they had been carrying on about Factions multiplayer (they put a lot of time into it despite fact the KS is pretty much a single player game - excuse was to get the combat mechanics right etc blah blah )...if the AI turns out to be a piece of shit, questions will be asked.....

Touchscreens are an incresingly common input device for laptops and even desktop computers. Making your UI compatible with a touchscreen is a definite way of futureproofing it, especially when it's not detrimental to the product (and no, size of UI is not, unless you want to claim that old games with big UIs were terrible because of big UIs)

We could at least have it customisable, though, right?

That would be for the best, yeah, depending on the integration of UI into the game, it can be pretty difficult to do. I do agree that customer choice should be priority whenever possible.

I doubt it, at least I don't think their a common input device for desktop PC gamers. Playing a PC game with a touchscreen is completely inferior to the accuracy and intricacy of mouse, you only have to use a tablet to play a game and then play a PC game to notice the obvious difference.

Except it isn't, touch interface is a hipster gimmick which will fade away and become obsolete soon enough, because it's fundamentally a terrible way of using a computer. The mouse and keyboard has been around for decades and will stay that way because it's proven itself as the most effective controlling device.

It's not so much the size of the UI's as the size of the buttons, they look horribly oversized and are obviously made to be "touched", not clicked on. The great advantage of designing a UI only for mouse/keyboard is that the UI can be appropriately sized.

No seriously if you've played Shadowrun Returns you'd see how having a touch interface on a PC game is detrimental, and it's not just cosmetic, the way the character screen comes up is obviously purely designed for "one click" and it takes over all the space on the screen. In addition when buying things from NPC's, it's obviously not designed for mouse, you can't just click to buy you need to "drag" like you would with swiping your finger across the screen. It's bloody infuriating.

Same reason Wasteland 2, Project Eternity/Pillars of Eternity etc are all designing purely for mouse/keyboard.
Nice! Can't wait for a GOG release :)

For desktop PC gamers, of course not. I have played Doom on a touchscreen and it was terribad (the turn-based strategy game I have tried after was fine tho). But the technology is getting adapted more and more in Czech Republic - I can't see the rest of the world lagging behind.

Well yes, that's why on the touchscreen configurations I have seen, touch controls were used as a supplement to mouse and keyboard. Then you have the modern laptops which allow for removal of the screen and its usage as a stand-alone tablet. I don't see any of those technologies going away, quite simply because most people I've seen using them seem quite satisfied with them.

And yes, I have played the new Shadowrun on PC, and I've had absolutely no problems with the UI.
I'm not 100% sure if I'll wait till the last second for GOG to announce whether they will release TBS in line with others or not. I've been burned before with the third Deponia, and I don't like to have a lack of practical information based on witch I can make a fair financial decision.
I played Factions and it felt like a 100% PC game, not to mention radial menus have been a mouse-centric implementation since the mid-90s at least, and they are not huge buttons.
