Hello,

There are many games that were hits and remain masterpieces, but are either completely abandoned. The examples:

The Dark heart of Uukrul: Broderbund, that has released it, exists no more in its present form; my attempts to contact them and learn the fate of the game ended in smoke, the current owners of trademark can't even recall they have ever released such a game.

Solar Winds, 1 and 2: Epic Games does not offer those for sale any more.

Demon stalkers, EA doesn't sell that fantastic game, AFAIK.

Thexder and a lot of other action/arcade/puzzle games. In many cases the companies that have released them, exist no more.

Is it still possible to sell those games legally? They are all available on abandonware sites, but AFAIK downloading games from there isn't legal, even if there's no publisher any more, publisher doesn't want to sell them directly and/or game developers chose oblivion for some reason.

Thanks.
Maybe GOG will get them in the future....vote for them HERE until GOG staff makes the new wishlist and get others you know to also vote for them.

Also send support letters via the support tab to GOG suggesting games you want to come to GOG someday. Also Happy Gogging , and Happy Holidays! :)

(Also many here won't say it clearly but hint that if a game can't be bought anywhere that most of us consider it OK morally to download an abandonware copy......and then buy a legal copy if anyone ever starts selling them.)

Also IMO you should make more versions of that pic as more people ask for games here....make things like lists of requests piling up on the desk in an INBOX or some such. Just an idea. :)

BTW how are you this holiday? Having fun yet?

Nice to hear

I'm planning to do a full day marathon of XIII tomorrow, which I was given by the very kind KOCollins here

Good game, but be warned it is unfinished though(I hear they originally planned a trilogy), just like Jericho and Anachronox.\

Also sorry about the offtopic Temmokan. And btw once again welcome to GOG! :)

Благодарю.

Of course, I shall vote for them, that's no problem. I only see the general problem trying to get a proper agreement with copyright holders, since they might be unavailable.

Most abandoned games's IP rights are held by someone. These people or companies might not know or recall they own such but in most cases someone owns the rights.

It would not be such problem if it is one person / company.
Much worse when game's rights are owned by a few persons / companies.

I know that. :P

I am just saying that most "orphaned" IPs are actually still held by someone and are not truly orphaned.

That also makes me wonder about future of Wither 2 - if there are already some problems with rights / distribution (NB case) what about them in future?
