I was definitely going to be playing for F2P but the fact that you only get, what 3 skill bars, wont even be glancing in its direction now. Sorry but if you feel the need to limit skill bars to bring money into your game, you definitely hit rock bottom. No where in any MMO have i ever seen F2P limit skill bars. Id rather them throw in P2W shit then limit something as basic as skill bars.

It was like this in the CoV days. Well, I think there were just 12 servers then, unless you played the EU version and then you really were limited. If you played the US version you could easily create over 100 alts on the base game. I only have a couple of dozens, but there are people who really made use of them all.

Again if they make it not impact subscribers at all, everyone wins. But they're notifying to sell subs, they are trying to sell lots of microtransactions to everyone, subscribers are included.

I'll probably still give the game a go when it goes ftp for lolz, I doubt it'll hold my attention for long if what people are saying is true.

Ah, that would explain it. They merged the US and EU servers at one point, but I guess that was long after you left. I played the US servers, because I bought the game there originally, and I always had a hell of a time getting NCsoft to convert EU codes (which I got when I purchased or got digital stuff) to US ones. They finally told me never to ask for this again.
The EU/US segregation in games is very annoying.

I just can't get into MMOs, but I may try this one day.

I'd hate to get invested in a game that is doomed to die. What if I ended up digging it and wanted to keep playing, but can't because the servers are going to shut down? I don't want to like a game that's going to disappear on me. Sell me an offline SP version and then we'll talk.

I guess it's a matter of outlook. It's like saying "I don't want to date that girl because I think she'll leave me eventually". If she's lots of fun to be with, does the heartbreak at the end make all the time not worthwhile? If you're looking for marriage, perhaps. If you're looking for a good time, probably not.

I have a lot of choices in games. Why would I choose to play an MMO that I know will be gone, and my character will be gone, and my social connections will be gone, if I could just as well spend the same time playing some other F2P MMO that's actually got a future?

When Blizzard releases something, it's always, ALWAYS heavily supported and never dies, people are still playing starcraft: BW and Diablo 2 and it's still supported by them
When EA releases something, it always dies quickly and EA forgets about it when the quick buck is made from it, obviously this EA "Hit and Run" model does not work with MMO's, anyone remember the SIMS online? Even Mike Morhaime said that it was a huge mistake from EA by abandoning it
Blizzard has made tons and tons from WoW but people seem to forget that they got there by also investing and pouring tons into it
Wasn't Warhammer online supposed to be "the next big MMO"? Yeah?
I like it how all support for it was abandoned for it and is still doesn't have a single expansion pack, EA really is clueless in what it's doing

Contrast this with SWTOR which 5 months after release had 1.3M players, and while I don't know how many it has now, my guess is more than WAR had at its peak. If WAR managed to survive 4 years with its small player population, I don't see a reason to believe that SWTOR will last less.
