Foxhack: Games For Windows Live NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
hyperagathon: I admit my ignorance and would like an explanation on why people seem to dislike GFWL. I just read the Wikipedia article, and it sounds a bit like Steam to me, and Steam has a gazillion of fanboys. (Note: apart from a general disdain for MS, which needs no explanation.)
Well, in my particular case, I hate GFWL because
I can't buy anything there. Since my IP is Mexican, and my credit card is American, I can't buy stuff. And by stuff I mean things like DLC.
At least with Steam, there's an officially sanctioned workaround that requires me to log in with my browser using a special URL and buy things there instead of inside Steam. But there's nothing like that in GFWL. Remember that "Age of Empires III for a dime" thing a while back? I couldn't even pay the bleedin' dime. :(
So if they release any sort of DLC? I can't buy it. At least with Steam, I can.
Edit: However, I can't judge the service as an in-game browser or for its additional features, since I can't run any game that uses / requires it at the moment. :)
