scampywiak: Soo..i have to create a second account for customer support? this is like dealing with Quest. Nice bullshit support they have. Discourage the customer every step of the way so they eventually give up on contacting customer support at all. Really, why do gamers like these guys? What the fuck did they do to get all the nut hugging? All I see is more DRM and more bullshit. I get less hassle from Origin and GFWL. I'm not kidding. They work when they need to, Steam doesn't.
The reason why the support account is not tied to your regular account is that if the regular one is compromised, you can use the support one to, well, request support.

Steam support IS very bad though.

Gamers like steam because it is a hassle free DRM that provides useful SERVICES to the users, not just hindrances. A very good aggregator, useful matchmaking, extreme ease to organize multiplayer matches, and now a whole lot of social networking crap that is extraneous, as well as synchronizing saves between multiple machines (VERY useful) as well as, and most importantly, HAVING CHEAP AS DIRT titles.

I've had nothing but good experiences with steam, as well as Origin, but GFWL leaves a bad taste in my mouth due to it being finicky and annoying to deal with (much more so than steam), and being a total pain in the ass when it comes to download dlc and saves. I was lucky not to have batman/fallout 3 saves eaten by GFWL, but I did spend like 2 hours trying to get the DLC for Section 8 (then again I spent more time getting that DLC than actually playing it!).

The only thing I've had not working with steam has been the offline mode, and that only if I try to activate it after closing steam incorrectly and not having a connection. Otherwise, it works very well.

steam is a bitch never buying a valve game
Steam wouldn't be so bad if it disallowed companies from having any third-party DRM on games it sells, and in addition it only used the client/steamworks for installation, so you can play the games whenever you by running a shortcut, without having to have the client running in the background.

Vitek: How exactly do you use word "nimrod" in US. Because here we use it as hunter and I think it's some biblical reference or something, so how is that insult?
avatar
Thunderstone: nimrod is another term for an idiot. I sometimes use it too. I have never heard in used in reference to a hunter.
Most USians will know it precisely this way. The US is religious, but no one actually reads the Bible, they just think they'll go to hell if they don't show up at church occasionally. I doubt most know a lot of the "lesser" biblical names (though they'll know the obvious ones, e.g. Moses, David, Goliath, Samson, etc.).
I've had no serious problems with steam

Steam sales are pretty good and I have never had a problem with the client itself.

I'm not religious, but I learned about Nimrod via Shadow of the Colossus! See, the "evil" spirit guy is named Dormin, which is Nimrod backwards, so people were drawing all sorts of conclusions about it and such.

Well to be fair mythological references are to the great grandson of Noah, according to Christian Mythology. Now, that being said, it has a variety of connotations to warriors AND idiots, depending on the context and area of the world in which you are saying it. It's like saying something is bad when you mean good, or weak when you mean lame or lame excuse. ^_^ The more you know...G-I-JOE!

Also, I happen to like Steam, it's still a valuable power source, and means of cooking foo-...Oh you meant the service/client...carry on.

Steam sales are... decent, usually lacking or equal to the competition, and I have been completely unable to actually use the client for several days now.

From what I read the term Nimrod transmuted from "great hunter" to idiot because Bugs Bunny called Elmer Fudd "Nimrod" (not "a nimrod", he actually used it as a name, not a description). Because Bugs is always getting the best of Elmer, people naturally assumed Nimrod means idiot. Perhaps not everyone thought this, but it was used so much in the US to refer to an idiot, it just stuck.

I personally love onions, but this picture is the greatest usage of onions I've ever seen in my entire life. I'm tempted to do it for Halloween next year.

Really though, how could anyone hate the noble onion? Onions are amazingly versatile AND delicious.

Now you'll tell me you also hate cabbage, spinach AND broccoli.

... Now I want to eat all those.
