P1na: I've been pirating for many, many years. Yes, it's easy.
Ah, but you missed that pirating (ie. downloading a full, pirated, game (which you haven't even bought)), and downloading an alleged crack for any of your purchased Steam game(s) that will rip its DRM out completely, are not the same thing.

I have actually tried the latter as I kept hearing these claims that it is supposed to be very easy and simple. It was far more complicated than "just download a crack, solved", so complicated in fact that I decided to let it be.

That's not even counting the Steam games that have also third-party DRM on top of the Steam DRM, my experiment was specifically for Steam DRM.

Crosmando: I love Steam games, I get them all the time from TPB
Ditto.

grinninglich: I was out of internet for a while and today i've faced the ugliness of Steam. Fanboys was always defending how Offline mode works great but today i've seen with my own eyes. Steam doesnt work in oflline mode after 1 or 2 weeks. I dont know the exact time. But today i cant play my Steam games. I think i will just stop buying games on Steam.
not every game requires steam. try to start the game manually...

Crosmando: Ehhh 180, quit the nitpicking
I thought the 360 was intended -> http://www.pcgamer.com/2013/06/11/ubisofts-announces-the-crew-a-racing-game-in-an-online-persistent-world/
Well, if it was intended then it doesn't make sense with the rest of the post...

And even less sense with the reply he gave you. But I can dream, can't I?
I have Steam in offline mode now about two weeks, but I didn't explicitly block it by firewall. Maybe I should for testing purposes. Anyway I think next week I should be able to say if there is a two weeks strict limit or not here.

Hold onto that dream, it's the only way you know you're alive!

Crosmando: As I said people are going to pirate a game if they want to, you are never going to change this.
You don't have to worry about other people because you can change what you do. Man up, your piracy helps nobody except you and only in the short-term at that.

It would be nice if people would actually take a stand, but what can you do. No one else will stop you from pirating and I don't really give a shit that much, pirate away, but don't use bullshit rationalizations like what you're doing is justified in any way. And even if you don't believe that it's justified, you still seem to think that piracy will actually help the industry get better. That mindset was around for quite a while now, look where we're at now.

I wanted to change my forum title in "retarded Kotaku shitposter" to honor him, but gog allows only max 16 chars....
i have absolutely noticed this. You cant use offline mode forever, after a while it will pretend you dont have your login information saved until you go online. Even when i very clearly did have my information saved, and i didnt need to enter it when i did go online. And i dont have my computer connected to the internet at all when i use offline mode.

He must have been in good mood when he called them 'ignorant idiots', because last time he used word "cocksuckers" to describe people who like consoles. Recently he has to have really rough time and be really frustrated because almost all his posts are hidden because of low reputation... ;)

Are you implying it will be difficult to download a cracked exe once Gaben switches off Steam?

avatar
grinninglich: In fact i bought games because i dont crack games. If i would crack game then i wouldn't buy games.
I buy games to support developers and publishers and cast my vote for which games to make.

I'm implying that downloading something that doesn't exist is pretty hard.

To me it would appear that cracking a Steam game you have purchased takes far more steps than just "download a crack, and you're done!", and the steps vary from game to game. And it has absolutely nothing to do with whether Steam is still online, or not.

So in practice, "downloading a crack" would most probably mean "download all your purchased Steam games all over again as pirated versions (those that you can find), no matter that in many cases the pirated versions won't probably include the DLCs nor the latest updates that you had with your originals".
