oldschool: What an asshole, she should have sued for more. I always knew this guy was an ass, but this drives the point home. Oh, Orcishgamer, you are not in the minority. After reading this i hope he gets whats coming to him and his crappy studio.
orcishgamer: Glad if that's so. And man, I must have been really pissed, because between the anger and the alcohol apparently my grammar was atrocious in that rant. Still, glad I communicated the sentiment.
Kurina: He also has not really denied the fact he did many of these things, but is instead trying to justify it by taking her email out of context and portraying her as a party girl, implying she was asking for it to start with.
orcishgamer: And what's more, even if she is a party girl to the point of having 3-somes every weekend, she still gets to say, "Dude, that's too far!"
I'm a pervert, personally, but I still think I get the right to tell the gay dude grabbing my ass that I'd rather he didn't (not trying to pick on anyone here, just a personal experience).
Couldn't have said it better. Including the "pervert" bit. Me I mean. Not you :)
And yep, it's just the same as guys who say a woman was "asking to be raped" because of what she wore or said. This dickwad is using the same argument.
And don't get me wrong, I've worked in an environment where dirty jokes etc. were the norm. Never bothered me at all. In fact, the ridiculous PCness of much of the western world now bothers me more. But..... when it comes to inappropriate touching or doing things that are obviously making someone uncomfortable, that's when you stop. If you don't, it's harassment.
I think he'll find, in court, whether it's "his company" or not, the same labor laws apply and he will get reamed financially, along with probably even more money for his retaliation suit.
Sad for his other employees, but this dickwad deserves to have his company shut down if that's how he treats his employees.
EDIT: And as far as the gay guy grabbing your ass, I've been propositioned a fair number of times by lesbians as, because I was on the board of directors of a gay organization they presumed I was gay. It didn't bother me at all. It would, however, have bothered me if I'd made it clear I was straight, was flattered but wasn't interested, and they kept on pushing it. Then I'd be pissed.
