Off topic, but I'd like to thank the author for starting this thread. Would've missed the sale otherwise. I really got to pay more attention to the GOG main page.

Got Deus Ex 2 and Daikatana.

Most games are even on the Square Enix homepage only available in English. An exception is Hitman: Contracts which comes in English, French, German, Italian, and Spanish. GOG has only English.

I surely WILL but that was not the point. The point was to pint out how important it is to add as many langiages as possible. I am prett sure that it is a sale argument for many potential customers. I know for a fact that for most Germans it is. I think there is one available but using such patches is not legal if the translation was made by professionals.

You are still misunderstanding me. I have a lot of games in English and I watch TV and movies in English, I have no problem with English - BUT if I have the possibility to buy a game with my native language (meaning I can play it with people who don't know english) I will buy it there and not on GOG. I also know for a fact that most German players want their games in their language because German is a country where most things are either dubbed or subbed (mostly dubbed)., afaik there is not a single game here in Germany without at least German subs! So the only thing I say is that GOG should sale their titles with as many languages as possible. I am not talking about bad publishers who do not translate their games. I am talking about already existing translations on the market for which the rights mostly are owned by another publisher so you have to pay a little bit extra for them which however may help to sell a lot more games.

At least in this case, I put the blame squarely (heh) on Square-Enix, because with the exception of Hitman: Contracts, they don't sell any of their games on GOG elsewhere (like Steam) with additional languages.

I don't know. Maybe the rights to the localizations belong to other companies and Square-Enix doesn't find it particularly profitable to negotiate for each language. Even truer if the localization part wasn't done by the IP owner, but by a local distributor.

If SE really has not allowed GOG to use the translation from other distributors then I guess GOG really isn't to blame for this and of course there may be some situation when you just can't change it.

However I really hope that GOG tries every time as hard as they can. Just a few minutes ago I read here in the forum another post from a German who states that he just won't buy anything in which the German language is not included on the game card.

I guess I am lucky that I do understand english but there are quite some remarkable German dubs out there which I really would want to have in my collection. The new "Outcast" version which brings back the german language officially is one prime example another would be "The longest journey".
