Rest of thread seems to have devolved into arguing, so I'm gonna add my fuel to the fire: I don't think a lot of people would have played Solatorobo if the main character was a generic anime kid. Making the main characters anthropomorphic dogs and cats gives the game that sense of weirdness that makes people interested in the game. While there could have been other ways to do that (Ghost Trick's art style comes to mind), Solatorobo would not have been able to characterize itself in any other way without [minor spoilers] drastically altering the game's story.

So yeah. Just cool your jets. It's a videogame about a dog-man and his mecha, no need to attack it for having different kinds of characters without looking into why they put in those kinds of characters.

Dear GOG staff, please remove any games that have anthropomorphized animals or other beings from these two users' game lists. This includes RPGs, platformers, puzzle games, adventure games, and whatnot.

Since they obviously hate them for their appearance instead of judging the games for what they are, I don't think they'd mind.

I didn't deny having a problem with the genre (whatever the genre might be). I think very lowly of replacing all characters with animals for no good reason and then adding human sexual features to them. Second: Correct me if I'm wrong but from what I know and remember, I don't remember Solatorobo being marketed specifically to any "demographic" or ages, Solatorobo (just like many other games) is a game for "Everyone" and it can be enjoyed by "Everyone", there is a difference between a game for "Kids" and a game "For everyone"

Third: The reason I used the word "Immature" was because of yours and others very negative reactions simply because of the theme of the game and the main character. Refusing to play a good game, simply because you label it as "Furry" (whatever the hell that means) is pretty immature in my opinion, sorry if it offends you so much but that's the way I see it.

Dude, there's nothing immature about disliking certain styles or genres - nobody can like everything. And we (or at least I) did not dismiss the possibility of the game having any positive features. All I said through my comment was that the presentation the artists chose is a total turn-off to me. What's immature is reacting that way to criticism - it was not a comment about any of you, just something you guys like and technically only one aspect of it.

It's quite unfair to bring adult fan-art into the discussion of a game, it has no impact on the product itself, you should judge games individually, on their own merits and not the actions of the more crazy/obsessive sides of their fanbases.

People will sexualize everything, no matter how wholesome. With the exception of the last link in your rebuttal, I would argue that you yourself are projecting obscenity onto some pretty innocuous images.

Finally no, the characters are not animals for no good reason, they are a stylistic choice by the developer, it is also a spiritual sequel to an old PSX game and is set in the same continuity. You'll also find most people who have played and enjoyed this game through, even people I know personally who aren't really interested in anthropomorphism, tend to agree that the characters here belong in this world, that it all gels seamlessly and believably and it wouldn't have felt the same without them. Not to mention the game's entire plot revolves around what they are.

Ehh, I'm probably at fault here. I only really skimmed through the posts once people started calling each other idiots so I didn't take the time to process the tone of what you guys were trying to say.
I'm pretty sure the main reason people are being so defensive about it is because of the first couple of posts in the topic that dismiss the original poster's first post without giving much reason other than "Oh it's furries. Closed.". While it is a public forum and you're not required to give a reason as to why you dislike someone, people do like to know why you're disliking what they like, even if they argue and yell at you all the while.
