JudasIscariot: Why do you love it so much? Any good games coming out for it other than a plethora of Cooking Mamas/kiddie games?
Except the Zelda remake and possibly the Street Fighter game, the launch lineup for the 3DS is weak. It'll improve though when all the major developers start churning out games for it, they're not quite ready yet.

Personally though I'm holding out for the NGP either way. Never was big on Nintendo's console, and I think the 3DS is still too cutesy and tailored at Japanese adolescent girls.

Tried the 3DS in a electronics shop here in Japan. It's visually interesting but I wonder what the use of the 3D, other than cosmetic. I mean, Street Fighter in 3D is still Street Fighter, there is no gameplay change. So I'm not paying 25.000 yens for remakes.

Exactly. 3D in every electronics sector is an attempt to layer on a new wow factor... movies, games, whatever... but in the long run, even most material-obsessed monkey brained consumer can tell a fad from a feature.

That's why I'm not wasting money on a 3D HDTV. Are they gonna re-release The Social Network or The King's Speech in 3D? And if they did, wouldn't that just be the worst idea possible for those, and the majority of movies.

In the gaming world, 3D might have more of a home, but ultimately it adds nothing you need to improve gaming, so it should just be a footnote.

The 3DS might present 3D very well, but I can't muster up any energy to care because, I'm not 12, I don't want to rescue the Princess, and it's a hand held, which just isn't my style at all. But the 3D part is something I'm not gonna add to my gaming PC, my home entertainment center, or any other element of my life...

...except for reality, which is already in native 3D.

More than a fair share of the titles for the 3DS are aimed at older gamers... like Teen & Mature rated. On top of that... you don't want to save the princess? You must not like very many games then....

Yeah I know a common stereotype about Nintendo and their casual/kiddie made by everyone on the internet except the so called "mindless" people that like Nintendo.
I have two criteria before I even consider a 3DS.
1. the price drops under $150
2. there are at least 5 worthy games that aren't just ports/remakes

Until then I'm perfectly happy with my DS and PSP.
Same thing applies to the PSP's successor.
had a go on my brothers (he got Pilotwings) and i love it, but will wait til theres some games i really want on it first

The 3D is very very impressive, though i found with Pilotwings i needed to bring it down about halfway on the slider cos at max the gap between the distance and the vehicle was making my eyes go funny lol, didnt have that issue with the built in games though so i think it all depends on how well the 3D is integrated on a game by game basis

I know with Street Fighter some reviews have said its virtually pointless and you may as well turn the 3D off when playing it and get more life out of the battery

deshadow52: Plenty actually, infact I would go as far and say that almost every major third party developer/publisher is releasing games for it.

and that wii and ds is for kids/casuals stereotype is getting super old.
Here's why I think the DS is, mostly, for kids: Every store I go into, whether it's your generic electronics store or a game store that sells nothing but games and accessories for gaming, there tend to be tons of games with titles such as: Horsez, Pokemon in 15 Different Colors All on Seperate Cartridges, Naruto something, etc. etc.

The only reason I would want one is for the hope of getting to play some Castlevania but guess what? The damn stores won't stock the good stuff because they apparently have too many games that could objectively be called kids' games and they need to sell them off ASAP.

I'd be more than happy if to buy a 3DS if it wasn't so damn difficult in getting games that would satisfy my wants. Oh and the price here in Poland comes out to be around $352 which doesn't sound like much but then you factor in the relatively weak earning power of the average citizen. For some people, $352 sums up their monthly earnings after taxes...

Just to be clear: I am all for other people enjoying something I don't like. I just wish that there was something for me to enjoy.

I'm largely with you, but then again, a large part of why is that I spent that money on my Pandora, and that hasn't even shipped yet. I suppose I could cancel it and buy a 3DS, but at this point, I'm not letting the que beat me.

That is fair but I would say all the stores are to blame for that one, not the system itself. The DS and Wii actually have some very good games for it. and coming from a person that lives in a town with no game stores and just a wal-mart to buy his games, you have to really look. And if all else fails there is always online stores where you will probably find games a lot cheaper than retail.

Also, it will have Mario and Pokemon games for it, that is reason enough that people should buy it.
Apparently the 3DS is a super battery hog and takes 4 hours to charge. Screw that thing.

You can trade in your old DS for a credit towards one plus get a 25 USD credit towards a DS game on Amazon right now, though.

Personally, it's expensive and has no GBA slot, no sale.
Got mine today! I love it. The battery thing isn't a problem in my case. I can't wait to play the next Etrian Odyssey and Shiren the Wanderer in 3D.

orcishgamer: Apparently the 3DS is a super battery hog and takes 4 hours to charge. Screw that thing.
Especially when you consider that, with 3D use, the batterly life is not much over 2h30. Might be the first time I see a handheld console take more time to charge than to be able to work.

Plus the thing that Nintendo says "rest your eyes 10 minutes every 30 minutes"...

In fact, I can be interested by 3D in games. I tried in a shop the nVidia 3D glasses on a PC with the game Burnout and it made me want to buy it immediatly!! Too bad you have to buy a 120Hz monitor (which are still quite expensive) + the 3D glasses system... But on racing games, the impression is incredible. And I'd like to try it on Mirror's Edge, too. Maybe I couldn't jump from a building to another, then, too scared... ^_^

Oh, another thing about the 3DS: I also tried Ridge Racer on it. There, the 3D effect is very nice BUT on a handhelp console, with a racing game, I tend to "move" the console when I turn left or right. With the 3DS, bad idea: in 3D mode, the screen becomes immediatly blurry. In fact you have to stay still if you want to enjoy the 3D effect in good conditions, which, on a handhled console, is plain stupid, I think...
