TheEnigmaticT: I'd suggest not...

Zolgar: That wouldn't fall under Attractive Nuisance.. More under booby trapping.. which I know is also against the law in the US.
It's fun to joke about such things though :p
Hm. Fair enough. I had thought that doctrine applied to anyone who received damages from an owner's property.

I should probably have read the Wikipedia article before linking to it. :P
Just thought of this: I hope you deleted your credit card info from Amazon, else it may be possible to purchase things through your Kindle (depending on if you use one-button purchase).

I have, plus the kindle won't connect to my account as I reported it stolen to amazon, while they might be able to scape the data some way, I feel a petty thief will just chuck it once they realise it is password protected.
This is why I would be more worried if he had stolen my phone or laptop (or even a usb on my desk as I sometimes leave important stuff on them...).
People are FdUP.

I can't relate with you since I haven't had anything of such value stolen, but at work, I had plastic trays and even water in a plastic cup stolen while I was in the men's room. LOL

Two words: volume encryption. Look it up. It might be tricky to get it work on a phone (I believe an iphone could require jailbreak and an android one root access) but if it's important files like personal or work/school related documents it couldn't hurt to check. If you use windows on your laptop I would recommend TrueCrypt because it's open source.
I always thought that Mercutio was the biggest thief in all the realms. He has the uncanny ability to screw any chick and then steal her purse and make a quick getaway. How cool is that.

Soyeong: When you're having problems with people stealing your food, it's time to start spiking it with extremely hot hot sauce or marijuana if your company is about to have a drug test.

tinyE: Poppy seeds work too.
By that logic, we should all be completely stoned out of our heads here in Germany (and in Poland for that matter too). We eat poppy seeds with a lot of stuff and we actually have a cake that is around one-third poppy seeds.

Ditto is the U.S.
There is a popular theory (yet totally unproven) that the Salem Witch Trials was the result of naughty little girls getting hold of poppy seeds.
UPDATE I got my stuff back!

So some students handed in my bag to security it all seems to be there including the kindle, someone had gone through all the pockets, but nothing appears to have been taken. And on turning on my kindle it doesn't seemed to have been accessed.

I'm guessing he was looking for money, laptops, phones, ipads etc... something for a quick sale. So yay, and I still get to give the pictures to the police so a win win.

CONGRATS!
Odd storey time; true storey time.
A year or so ago someone over here had their laptop stolen. He was needless to say pissed but for some reason never reported the theft.

Two days later a dishevled guy walked into the police station to confess that he had stolen the laptop and to show the cops what he found on the laptop: child pornography! The owner of the laptop was immediatly arrested and the guy that stole it was given a reward, no shit!

So,

1. Steal laptop
2. Plant CP
3. Turn in to police for profit!

I see nothing wrong

I never thought of that, brilliant. But isn't it easy to figure out when something was downloaded? That might kill it for the thief, or for the owner should he try to blame it on the thief.

Great News!! (:D)
And yeah, still give those photos to security and the police, that fellow may come back later for more... and he should pay for what he did.

File dates are pretty easy to fake. They'd have to raid whoever hosted the CP that was downloaded, and check the server logs or something.

tinyE: I was actually joking. That was an episode of Seinfeld; I had no clue it really happened! :P

QC: That's why you don't quote t.v. without looking it up first. Television on a whole is pretty uninspired, so stuff like that is based on real events. A woman was convicted on a drug charge for opium, and she took it to court arguing that it was caused by her poppyseed bagel (Which is concentrated in about 10 parts per million I think), she overturned the conviction after. Not sure if she got her job back.
If they only had a drug test, then they shouldn't have been prosecuting for opium. It's relatively unusual for a junkie to not have paraphernalia to go along with the junk. And the ones that don't have the paraphernalia tend not to get busted.

Also, drug tests aren't supposed to be given to the police.

That's actually relatively common. My friend had her wallet pick pocketed when we were traveling together last year. I found the wallet about an hour later with everything except the cash.

A kindle is probably not easy enough to fence which is probably why it was still in the bag.
