Here in belgium
- roads are breaking up due to ice damage
- they're out of salt to put on the roads (and alternatives aren't being considered). the only places they remove the snow is in the neighborhood of schools
- there were at least 30 (!) accidents last night due to the state of the roads
- it's going to keep snowing for at least one more week

Whoa, that sounds rough man. Here we only got a few inches of snow but our temperatures are averaging about 0 degrees Fahrenheit and it's just cold. Schools around here refuse to close when this area is full of people who don't have 4-wheel drive and it causes a few wrecks a month, blame it on the schools. But running out of salt? Have you suggested them trying cinders to your city?

To be fair, it is not exactly football season in Norway either.

+ 20°C Greeks put on sweaters (if they can find them).
+ 15°C Jamaicans put on heating (of course, if they have one).
+ 10°C Americans begin to tremble. Russians soot cucumbers in their gardens.
+ 5 °C You can see your breath. Italian cars do not ignite. Norwegians go to the lake to bathe.
0°C Water freezes in America. In Russia, the water thickens.
- 5°C French cars do not ignite.
- 15°C Cat insists that it will sleep with you in bed. Norwegians put on sweaters.
- 17.9°C Oslo homeowners put on heating. The Russians go to datchas last time in the season.
- 20°C American cars do not ignite.
- 25°C German cars do not ignite. Jamaicans perished.

+1 for awesomeness, but there is one small oversight.
America (and Russia for that matter) is a big country, the climate and people's reactions to it vary wildly.
For example, my car ignited at -30! It complained quite a bit, but it got me home.
