tfishell: As long as it's not just because he happened to make a movie about Jesus Christ, I'm reasonably okay with this. ;) However, I still really like his Lethal Weapon films.

tinyE: HAHAHA! No not his Christ movie. I'm not a religeous man but I thought that was actually a pretty good flick, and I still worship Max. In fact I would never hold it against someone because he made a shit movie, just look at the crap I watch.
I wouldn't have a problem with disliking the movie based on the same criteria as other films, but then there are people who simply dislike a movie because it features a religious figure. :P (Just FYI, I haven't actually seen it, and don't plan on it, as I heard it was hyper-violent, very physically disturbing and [arguably, of course] not even accurate.)

It was and that's actually one of the reasons I liked it. Don't get me wrong, I'm not a sadist, but most movies about the crucifixion are a tad glamorous for my take, with sun beams falling on Christ's head, and trumpets blaring, and the thump thump thump of of the kettle drums, and Jesus looking remarkably clean for someone who has just been beaten sensless, dragged up a hill, and nailed to a cross. Then of course the bold speeches by all three of the condemned. Someone who is being crucified can barely breath much less orate to a huge crowd of onlookers outside with no acoustics. To Mel's credit he got rid of a lot of this showman ship and made it more brutal but also no doubt a little more realistic in terms of look.
It's funny how you folks from the US interpret the word so different from the rest of the world.

Guess the cold war paranoia worked it's way to a degree.

Crassmaster: Who cares? Seriously, why care? She spent a ton of scratch at a bar...and? That's it? Who gives a damn?
I'm not one to say stop buying video games or nice clothes because there are starving people out there, but $45k for one night of liquor is WAY too far. It disgusts me.

Happy mediums.
Buying expensive things for lots of strangers? The nerve of the born-rich! How dare they?
A fool and their money are easily parted.

This.

Seriously, people who get emotional because of stuff like this will have a hard time getting through life. :P

I totally agree but are you telling me you wouldn't like to kick Robin Leach in the nuts just one time?

She was buying for everyone in the bar though - sharing the wealth!
meh, what'd you rather she do horde it? then it may as well not exist. If she spends it the bar keeper can spend it and so can his employes, his suppliers, the peasants who picked the grapes to make the champagne, ect.

Dude, if you think it's no big deal to drop $45k on one night of liquor then good for you, but I find that shameful. I don't want her arrested, I just want her to learn to be a human being.

Fuck no! I just want to be in the same bar as she is when she's buying drinks.

She has money to spend so I see absolutely no problem in her spending them. Would it have been better if she spent them on clothes? Or shoes?
