Some games are made to make you smile, fall in love, and get lost in a magically created world, and few games can delight you like Botanicula.

Botanicula, a charming adventure/puzzle point-and-click, is available for only $9.99.

Little feather-fly, glowing nut/bulb, mushroom, fungus, and branch-guy--here’s the party of five little tree-friends that need your help to save their home-tree from evil black spidery monsters. On your way you will find dozens of tree-creatures: reimaginations of frogs, flies, bees, and beetles, all beautifully (and bizarrely) hand-drawn and animated. The whole environment is alive with chirping, buzzing and music. Actually, the whole environment is music--all your actions will be accompanied by symphony of chirps, tweets, growls, hums and gulps, all created by the band DVA, that won the game Excellence in Audio award at IGF.

Amanita Design, authors of Samorost and Machinarium, have created an adventure subgenre og their own: one where the exploration is as rewarding, touching, and delightful as the actual puzzle-solving. The simplicity of controls (click something when your cursor turns into a hand) combined with gameplay that encourages exploration (click everything that turns your cursor into a hand!) and brilliant ideas offer an amazing experience beyond regular point-and-clicks. You will want to find all the easter eggs before solving every puzzle and when you do, you will want to share this game with all of your non-gaming friends as an example of something that will delight and astound anyone.

Kirk Hamilton from Kotaku summed up Botanicula with a number of “100% true” facts. We found his summation so accurate we thought we’d include a few of them here:
* Botanicula is so adorable that it can only be controlled by picking up a puppy and moving its puppy paws on your computer's trackpad.
* Botanicula is so charming that it stole Julia Roberts away from Pretty Woman-era Richard Gere. He was pretty pissed but reported that he "couldn't stay mad at [Botanicula]".
* Botanicula is so clever that it snuck up behind the raptor that snuck up on Muldoon in Jurassic Park. "Clever game," said the raptor.

Botanicula is probably the closest thing to that dream you once had you never wanted to forget because it was so creative and fun. If you forgot that dream, get it back for only $9.99 now on GOG.com.

wormholewizards: I thought we all already moved on from that Fallout issue? Beside that have nothing to do with this thread title.
Jesus, what issue? Were people really angry because they bought the game a little bit earlier? It's tough luck, it sucks, but in the end you should be amazed at their generosity anyway. Should they announce that it will be free within 7 days? If so, what about those, that have missed this announcement? Or should they refund each and every sale they have made since beginning? Or shall they not make any promotions just to not offend some naysayers?

God, people, get a grip :)
You know, what really grinds my gears is that they've already sold almost ten thousand copies through the humble bundle site. We really should do something about this, I mean, it's not fair.
Yeah I thought everyone was too quick to jump at their throats. Those guys have always been cool and still are.

Are people seriously mean what they say about the Fallout giveaway and W2 backup? Like... they are not sarcastic??

I bought Fallout from GOG a while back and pre-ordered W2 again from GOG for the full price. So I got practically nothing during their much hyped Spring Conference. And yet didn't feel the need to complain about it.
Sure I would love to get a gift as well, who doesn't like receiving gifts?
But calling those moves fiasko and debacle? What the fuck guys? Like, seriously... what the fuck?

We should kill them all?

Aningan: Well that says more about yourself than GOG. To put it bluntly the problem here is you.
I have bought Fallout 1, Witcher, Witcher 2 and I say it's nice what they did.

gameon: Wow, so you think its not okay to bash GOG, yet personal bashing is fine? Just dont do it. I'm trying to be rational and justify my posts.
I already owned Fallout, and I would not be upset if I bought a game today and it went on sale or free tomorrow. Do you know why? Cause I could have PLAYED it earlier than the others, and I PAID for that.
With this pre-order, I did not get early access to the game OR the bonus content, I had to wait for release, and as soon as it was released there was a better offer on the table.

If they would have pulled this stunt TOMORROW, I would have cared MUCH less.

HGiles: Yes.

gameon: You mean yes to that?

If so, well i guess you dont have to worry about money like i do. I am fine with GOG giving stuff to everyone. But it would be nice if they made it fairer on everyone (one $5.99 game of choice or something). But even then i guess there would be people who own all the titles that would want something different.

It doesn't really matter, i'm sure i can save up for botanicula eventually.

And just to clarify i think its the devs fault on botanicula, not GOG.com.
Well, where I live $9.99 will just about get you a meal at a place that isn't McDonalds. If I take lunch to work for a few days it's a wash. So there probably is a bit of a value difference, if you have to seriously save up for it.

But the other thing is, sometimes, you can't get everything that you want.Sometimes, other people get nice things. And you don't! Oh well. Sometimes, people give what they can afford to give away, rather than what you want them to give. Oh well.

And now I've got "You Can't Always Get What You Want" stuck in my head. Argh.
Again
I almost forgot. everybody who pre-ordered Botanicula on GOG.com will get the full soundtrack, the art-book (not released yet) and Machinarium for free tomorrow. and of course you all have our eternal gratitude for supporting us:)
TBH though it's a little late to state this they should have announced this a week or so ago not hours later

Among those, my 1$ solely to the charity :P

Drink 2 beers + 1 big whiskey and you will have that problem removed :D

GOG have donated $300 to the bundle. I absolutely love those guys, there isn't a more sporting and decent way to handle this situation.
I don't regret my pre-order at all, I pre-ordered the game because it looked great (and having played it I think it is) and I enjoyed Amanita's previous games, nothing is going to change that. When I saw the bundle I donated $15 even though I had all three games, just to get the bonuses and give some money to charity.
Aside from not informing GOG about this (and I'm not really sure if that's the case, it just seems that way at the moment) I don't think Amanita did anything wrong, ultimately they've sacrificed full price day one sales in order to raise money for charity. What's the harm in that?
Once again, thank you GOG for being so utterly fantastic to your customers, I don't feel owed anything because of this situation but it's amazing that you're going to do something for those who do. To be honest, I'd prefer it if people grew up a bit and didn't get angry about this sort of thing but the fact that you respond to their feedback anyway is admirable. No other developer offers this same level of loyalty and care to their customers.

keeveek: You already know it's great? Damn, this is one short game...
You don't have to play a game to it's completion to know if it is a great one :)

I believe he did not "forgot" about it. Anyway this still left bitter taste. The fact remain GOG doesn't even know about this day one bundle after month of promoting the game on this site, at their respective social media and much anticipated conference.

tfishell: GOG, thanks for all you do. Personally, the main thing I want you to work on is providing better support for those who can't get the titles on here working well. Other than that, you're doing a great job!
THIS. I second this post. Also, I remember a time when the GOG forums where rant-free, bitching-free. People would have reasonable complaints and constructive criticism. More and more, it seems people come here to vent off anger. It's not the IGN forum yet, but...
GOG grows, they're getting bigger. Obviously mistakes and incidents happen.
But we still love you, GOG!

It's more likely they got a reaming from GOG tbh and this is their attempt to cover their asses by making it sound planned
