Some games are made to make you smile, fall in love, and get lost in a magically created world, and few games can delight you like Botanicula.

Botanicula, a charming adventure/puzzle point-and-click, is available for only $9.99.

Little feather-fly, glowing nut/bulb, mushroom, fungus, and branch-guy--here’s the party of five little tree-friends that need your help to save their home-tree from evil black spidery monsters. On your way you will find dozens of tree-creatures: reimaginations of frogs, flies, bees, and beetles, all beautifully (and bizarrely) hand-drawn and animated. The whole environment is alive with chirping, buzzing and music. Actually, the whole environment is music--all your actions will be accompanied by symphony of chirps, tweets, growls, hums and gulps, all created by the band DVA, that won the game Excellence in Audio award at IGF.

Amanita Design, authors of Samorost and Machinarium, have created an adventure subgenre og their own: one where the exploration is as rewarding, touching, and delightful as the actual puzzle-solving. The simplicity of controls (click something when your cursor turns into a hand) combined with gameplay that encourages exploration (click everything that turns your cursor into a hand!) and brilliant ideas offer an amazing experience beyond regular point-and-clicks. You will want to find all the easter eggs before solving every puzzle and when you do, you will want to share this game with all of your non-gaming friends as an example of something that will delight and astound anyone.

Kirk Hamilton from Kotaku summed up Botanicula with a number of “100% true” facts. We found his summation so accurate we thought we’d include a few of them here:
* Botanicula is so adorable that it can only be controlled by picking up a puppy and moving its puppy paws on your computer's trackpad.
* Botanicula is so charming that it stole Julia Roberts away from Pretty Woman-era Richard Gere. He was pretty pissed but reported that he "couldn't stay mad at [Botanicula]".
* Botanicula is so clever that it snuck up behind the raptor that snuck up on Muldoon in Jurassic Park. "Clever game," said the raptor.

Botanicula is probably the closest thing to that dream you once had you never wanted to forget because it was so creative and fun. If you forgot that dream, get it back for only $9.99 now on GOG.com.

gameon: I think thats what is needed! I am not trying to argue with people, i was just trying to justify why i was personally disappointed with some things on the site. I am not saying "bring down GOG.com"

I think people complaining about me is just as bad as me complaining about those giveaways.

Anyway, i think we all need to chill out. We can be friends if we put our minds to it!
Same reciepe for you my friend - Drink 2 beers + 1 big whiskey

wormholewizards: I believe he did not "forgot" about it. Anyway this still left bitter taste. The fact remain GOG doesn't even know about this day one bundle after month of promoting the game on this site, at their respective social media and much anticipated conference.

wodmarach: It's more likely they got a reaming from GOG tbh and this is their attempt to cover their asses by making it sound planned
This !

Whooaaaah, you are pushing it man!

GOG gave out stuff for free. You bitch about this wonderful gesture. We bitch about your baseless bitching. Incomparable situations.

Also, let's just chill. Obviously you are pissed about someone else getting sth for free while you have missed out. I cannot understand the way you view this situation, but you are entitled to whatever opinion you want, however absurd that might be ;) Peace out.

MasodikTiasma: I remember a time when the GOG forums where rant-free, bitching-free. People would have reasonable complaints and constructive criticism. More and more, it seems people come here to vent off anger. It's not the IGN forum yet, but...
GOG grows, they're getting bigger. Obviously mistakes and incidents happen.
But we still love you, GOG!
I think bitching about this particular issue is pretty justified, personally. There've been over 300 posts across three threads about this in the last three hours alone, so it's definitely hit a nerve for plenty of folks around here. Mostly I'm just confused by it. Obviously this bundle was important enough to them to greatly damage one of their new corporate relationships, as well as alienating the people who had wanted to support them the most. In secret, to boot. And offering their own game on sale on the FIRST DAY? Aren't video game prices supposed to drop over time, rather than increase?

gameon: Oh fuck you. Sarcastic wanker.
Come on, you ask to be allowed to have an opinion, allow me to have mine as well. Let's just agree to disagree.
I pre-ordered the game, got the game and feel good for giving GoG more of my money. That's all I care about right now, on my end.

As for the beautiful GoG guys, twist Amanita Design arm good, not just for us, but for yourself's also.

Disgusting business practices. You don't burn bridges for crap like this.

OK, guys, we're trying to keep those forums as cursing-free as possible and this accounts fro both "fuck" and "bitching".

Play nice.

I don't know if it was gog twisting their arm or just their response to the pr fall out.

I was pretty sure that "to bitch" isn't vulgar as opposed to the noun, which I also though is only slightly vulgar.

Nonetheless - apologies. Just bought Theme Hospital in hope for redemption. Did it work?

Criticizing it, yes, not "bitching" and bringing back old issues like some people are doing. I'm confused same as you: I'd understand if Amanita wanted to have their games on as many digital outlets as possible, and day-one sales happen, but usually it's like 10 or 15% off. Here, they're offering their game basically for free: where's the profit for them?
I'm not very familiar with the Humble Bundle, are there statistics showing it's profitable in the long run?

Most likely both, it seems the dev forums are going into panic mode and deleting (quite right) angry posts about this fiasco.

I wouldn't like to be them right now. Screwing TWO revenue streams for short term gain, whilst pissing off GG, is idiotic.

It's all about people being decent too. I usually pay a normal price for the bundle. The average price point is also high as you can see. I know that the first bundles were really successful, no idea how it has turned out in the long time.

The real bummer is that GOG was promoting this thing so much, and they have pulled a very bad stunt with this HIB. Usually HIB has titles released some time ago BTW.
I contacted GOG for a refund -- different game (6 USD) --, that works, right? Next I'm going to buy the Humble Bundle, giving to the charity generously.

The best I could provide is , which has basically stats on every bundle, and this, which is an additional talk.

Comparing to the previous bundles, this seems to be getting a much higher average than usual. It'll probably drop, later on, although usually the average by now would about $6. Surprising, to say the least.

I'd wait for Amanita to say something about this. This seems more like a massive screw up by accident, rather than on purpose. Let's wait for both GOG to say something, as well as for Amanita to answer to the questions, and unfortunately mostly accusations.
