I was inspired by the new games suck thread to make this thread. What are some games that don't have the problems listed in that thread?
In particular I am interested in any recommendations of games that:
1. Don't have draconian DRM. What I mean by that is any of the following A)Constant online DRM B)Hardware authentication/authentication and/or install limits C)GFWL D) EA's Origin E) Ubisoft's UPlay.F)Any DRM with questionable behavior, rootkits, spyware etc. I am a huge fan of Steamworks so long as it is not tied to any 3rd party DRM.
2. Games that are cross.platform, in particular games that have Linux versions.
3. Games that have mod tools and mod SDKs. In particular level editors, importers and exporters for 3D packages such as 3DS Max and Maya. I am thinking about like the modding SDK's that id Software used to release for their games(and is supposed to do with Rage as well).
4. Games that have extensive video options and customization abilities. Think id's consoles and the .ini files of some Unreal Engine games. But also just extensive options in the menus.
5. Games that have cutting edge graphics with the latest rendering algorithms
6. HUGE bonus if the games have had their source code released as FLOSS or were FLOSS from from the beginning. But this is not a requirement.
Anyone have any recommendations?
