ok so, the Alan wake devs said today that they don't foresee a PC release any time soon, or at least no where near console release.
Does anyone else see that as a slap in the face to PC gamers?
I mean, the Alan Wake series is primarily a PC series.. Not releasing a PC version of the game is like Microsoft selling Halo ODST on PS3 and not Xbox 360.
It's absolutely ridiculous.
Here's to you Alan Wake devs, I will not buy your game. :P
It's been like this for a while, PC gamers aren't considered worth the bother.
Chances are Alan Wake will be a lousy port even if it does make it across.
I take heart at the few developers who appreciate the PC (Blizzard etc.)

Even Blizzard doesn't like us, example: No Lan in SC2.
I thought Alan Wake was a new IP. Since when has it been a series? It's not a series if there is only one and it hasn't even come out yet.
I don't think they are in any way obliged to make a PC version.
They can do whatever they want and if you want to play the game you can get a 360. Sure, I'd love to see a good looking game come to the PC, but I'm not gonna get all in a huffy because some developer decides to focus their efforts on making a damn good game for one platform.
That being said if this was some sort of longstanding PC series I might get worked up. Like if Microsoft suddenly said that Mechwarrior 5 was going to be 360 only.
I think it only seems like it is a series since this game has been in development for so long and it seems like they keep showing it off every year at E3 since 2004-2005. IIRC, when it was originally announced 4 or 5 years ago, it was supposed to be a PC title first, then an Xbox exclusive second.
Alan who? Meh, the game is probably gonna suck anyway.

Please note that my comment is about the "platform-exclusive" mentality in general and doesn't refer to the particular piece of software being discussed in this thread, but... this sort of idea doesn't really make a whole lot of sense to me. On the one hand, I can understand the thinking. Secure a popular intellectual property. Secure a popular franchise with the understanding that people who want to play games built off that franchise will then fork over the cash to purchase the hardware require to play those games.
Problem is, it doesn't always track. Just as an example, I have kinda always wanted to play the Halo games. They seem like fun, and the backstory/setting seems interesting to me. But I can't really afford to purchase two video game consoles, and when I made my purchase, the PS3 was simply the better option for my needs. Because of this, I simply haven't played any of the Halo games except the first which received a PC port. (The second received a port as well, but requires Vista and I run XP and have no intention of switching over.)
Again, the intent would be that I would buy an X-box or upgrade my computer's OS to play these games? Far from it. Instead, I have simply avoided the franchise, depriving myself of enjoying these games, and Bungie of my gaming dollar. A poor solution for them and me.
Now, yes, I'm aware that it would cost considerable resources to create a version capable of running on yet another platform, but I'm sure I'm not the only one in this situation... i.e. someone who'd be willing to play the game if only it were on a platform that the had access to. The idea of not supporting different platforms because of arbitrary exclusivity agreements so far seems to do more harm than good. I've seen it happen with too many games, and it just makes no sense. Why does the PS3 version of Fallout 3 not get DLC, while the Windows and X-Box versions do? Why does only the X-Box version of GTA4 get the expansion pack and none of the other versions do? Am I seriously supposed to fork over the money to buy an X-Box just because I want to play the expansion for Grand Theft Auto IV? I hardly think that's an acceptable solution.

I have a 360, but you don't think that abandoning an audience is a good idea?
there are people who genuinely like the Alan Wake series of games :O

But it isn't a series. This will be the first and only (so far) Alan Wake game. They've been teasing the game for years now, but there has never been another Alan Wake game.

Indeed. Capcom is one of my favorite publishers, because even though it may take a while for the PC version to come out, it's optimized, and they try and throw players a bone, like the filters in Street Fighter IV, and making it $40 instead of $50 or $60. I'm almost considering re-buying Bionic Commando on the PC once that comes out!
My confusion as well: "Alan Wake series"? There are other AW games before this one?
Seeing that AW has been in development for many years (and delayed several times), I can understand if Remedy wants to concentrate on a particular platform first. I think it's better to do that than trying to simultaneously release two version of unpolished, buggy game within the same timeframe. Or worse, delaying the game for another two years.
Then again, the console is XBox 360, which will make it easier for them to port the game to PC.
"Not releasing a PC version of the game is like Microsoft selling Halo ODST on PS3 and not Xbox 360. "
The plan for the PC version is still "up in the air," and will be decided after the release of the 360 version. That's not the same as explicitly saying AW is now console-exclusive. Besides, AW is published by Microsoft Game Studios, so I think your analogy is a little bit misleading. It's more like MS releasing Halo ODST on PC first...which may disappoint many 360 gamer, but not as extreme as your analogy implied.
@TheCheese33: uuuh....Resident Evil 4? :/
Alan Wake was originally going to be exclusive to Vista and the Xbox 360, alongside the likes of Halo 2 and Shadowrun. Microsoft made at least one press release to this effect.
PC gamers were explicitly promised a PC version. This is not good news.

hah, I guess I got it confused with something else.
Its certainly annoying to restrict customers, to be honest if there was a PC version and a single console version that was exclusive, that'd be LESS irritating.
Its always sad to see the PC gaming market being disrespected but sadly I don't see it changing any time soon, people are already developing for consoles more than for the PC, there's an increasing push towards laptops being the main computer people own and now even low power units like the netbook I'm typing on are becoming popular so there's decreasing scope for trying ambitious things since there's a fair chance that people won't have the hardware to run something that a 360 can run if they DID develop simultaneously.
Well that just sucks, I was actually looking forward to Alan Wake, at least they didn't outright deny PC users like the Prince of Persia DLC fiasco. I still hope a good PC version comes through but I've been disappointed too many times.
It's things like this that make me think there may be some credibility to the whole "PC gaming is dying" theory. *sigh*
