Barefoot_Monkey: I like the way Royale said "This is NOT the Director's Cut" so clearly. That was good thinking, and will probably save them a lot of complaints, given the potential for confusion.

Foxhack: I asked them about that on Twitter and the guy said "Not the Director's Cut." Looks like they're not too happy either.
At least QUBE now is DRM-FREE. Its usual thing - make Special editions on Steam, release "usual" everywhere.
avatar
IronArcturus: Yeah, I've read that this seems to happen far too many times. But how is the QUBE game? is it any good?
Dunno about game, but OST they used in game is awful, imho.

What was wrong with the music? I haven't heard it before.
I love the notion of "director's cut" in games.

Damn all these producers who impose their visions of the game and its ending !

Got soundtrack on GameMusicBundle. Zomg, unlistanable for me. Maybe its Ok in game but sounds totally unmelodic cacophony for me,

MaximumBunny: The best model in my opinion is if comes with dlcs to charge users less per owned item. Meaning if you have all of it the update is free, and if you have some of it the difference is the price of what you were missing. In this case if he said it was going to be free and then charged for it, it was because not everyone owns the dlc and he didn't want to give it away. Not that it added anything significant anyway, and not saying it's justifiable to go back on something if you said you were going to do it.

Protoss: Why does every director nowadays get cut? If they want cut versions, they should come to Germany!
avatar
MaximumBunny: It's a way to sell a game as GOTY when it wasn't the GOTY.
I know, was just making the obvious joke. The other one would be that the director probably is jewish. (I have many jewish friends, this is not supposed to be racist!)

But I agree, such things should be for free or at least cheap for original owners.

Well, the rip off those suckers (ROTS) Edition didn't sound so pleasing to the ear.

This sounds strangely georgelucasy.
It's such a shame when developers do this sort of thing as it benefits nobody and blots the current gaming scene that little bit more. Customers feel like they've been lied to and the company gets a lot of bad publicity, a potentially loss making product and a drop in future custom. This could have been managed and handled in so many different and better ways e.g. limit the scope of the update to reduce development time, inform customers of the price change well in advance etc. I don't mind paying for substantial additional content where justified (back in the day I used to really like expansion packs for example), but announcing that additional content will be free one moment and then announcing that the same content is chargeable DLC on the day of release is pretty lousy tbh.

Dude, you're German.

That makes your comment twice as bad. :P
These devs need to be sent to the dog pound - they get cut for free and the world is a better place for that ;-p

~sorry, just had to say this. please excuse my rudeness ;-p ~

I have the same habit of backpeddling on any Jewish jokes I make (even though most of the jokes are actually Rabbi jokes of Jewish origin).

Shame on you! You do know that's unbecoming of your position as forum mother?

Now the game is free, is listed right under QUBE on your Stem library. Another battle win by customers.
I finished the DC last night. Pretty good game, but the new "additions" should've been a free update to begin with. I'll admit the voice acting is pretty good, but considering there are so few lines of dialogue in the game I can't imagine it being very expensive, and I doubt the story costed much.. anyone could've come up with it.

There are 3 new optional "hidden" puzzles, which I enjoyed.. but would've fit right in with a free update. Some say the new soundtrack is worse than the original. Really can't see anything worth charging more for in the DC aside from possibly the DLC which was added to the base game.
