michaelleung: I'm on my third (fourth?) 360 already, and I think it's one of them Jasper ones, so that's a good sign. About the Go, I hope Gran Turismo comes out on disc (like they promised us back in oh, 2004?!) because I don't think I'll get it that way. Then again, it should mean that all games would be sold on the PSN, which is available on the PSPs that we've all come to know and love.
But I haven't actually used a PSP UMD since 2007 (I have CFW, so I just rip my UMDs to my 4GB stick to play both backups and "backups") so obviously Sony has nailed its demographic. Whether or not that demographic will want to ditch their perfectly working PSPs (mine has ONE dead pixel, but whatever) in favor of this new system which effectively is a sacrifice between the classy disc system for the harder-to-homebrew PSP Go is something that remains to be seen this fall. I already know one person who will preorder it anyway.

CDRiccio: GT is said to be coming, but it sounded like it will be in DL form. Whether or not it will be available both ways has yet to be seen I think.
I still use my PSP a lot and I love it! And I would probably get the Go if they made it possible to easily transfer UMD games to it. But I don't see that happening.
I think what will really sell the Go will be price. They need to price this thing at the same price or less than the DS lite.

I expect it to be sold less than the PSP 3000, because it has no disc drive. Then again, I've always been wrong on this kind of stuff.

Yeah it HAS to sell for less than the 3000.
I'm thinking $130 USD.
I'm sure they could easily drop the 3000 to $150 USD. Not sure why they haven't yet. It would put it at a lower price point than the DSi and put them in a pretty good spot to sell a lot more systems.

I think they wouldn't drop it to $150 because they want to pit the PSP Go against the DSi, not the vanilla PSP. Remember, one thing the PSP Go has that can rival the DSi that the normal PSP can't is that it's light. I don't care what anyone says, the PSP 1000, 2000, 3000 are not light by ANY means. It's also more compact, so obviously it would be a better idea to just sell this at a cheap price and leave the 3000 as the more, upscale PSP version. After all the PSP 3000 and its predecessors all have a 4.3" screen. The PSP Go does not.

You're right... and actually, you're reasoning is why I think they should drop the price of the 3000s.
DSi is the upscaled DS right?
Why not sell the upscaled PSP for cheaper than the upscaled DS. Make hte 3000 $150.
DSlite the lower end DS right?
Why not sell the "lower end" PSP (the Go!) for cheaper than the lower end DS. Make the Go! $120 or so.
But overall, you're right that they probably won't and probably don't need to drop the price of the 3000 right now. With the Go! coming out... it will attract attention to itself and the platform. I just think it would be a REALLY smart move for them.
I guess the DSi is comparable to the Go, but the DS Lite is comparable to... nothing, really. The DSi is lighter than the DS Lite, after all, making it the contender to the PSP Go anyway.

Is it really?
I thought the Lite was lighter considering the DSi has bigger screens and 2 cameras.

It seems to be about 214 grams, a full 4 grams lighter than the Lite. Imagine that! FOUR GRAMS!

HAHAHAHA!
You can TOTALLY tell the difference.
;)
I hope it's cheaper, I might buy another one, and I also hope it's hackable. :3
Crappy design is crappy

TheJoe: Crappy design is crappy
true, it looks like crap, but a psp w/o a umd drive is still attractive to psp owners
I'm not feeling this.
Fat psp is the best, personally I don't see any good reason in buying Go version.

1. They don't sell phats.
2. between a slim and a go, if you don't like UMD's (like me) then it's fine.

But getting phats from second hand is nothing bad. :p
