Ah, I see. So the answer is yes, but no, but maybe, sort of probably... ish.

Android? There's one listed in the cast. Or maybe an "Engineer", which seems to be an alien race that created humankind.

Looks interesting, but tis hard to trust the man that f***ed up Hannibal to deliver something good.

I never saw Hannibal. What was so bad about it?
fuck and yes! Scott is my favorite director, I have a major hard on for the original film (the others went limp for me as I got older), and June 8th is my birthday.

this is like the best birthday present ever!

(please, Mr. zombie jesus: don't let this one's release date slip)

Biggest problem is the ending. Can't be specific without spoiling the ending of the novel. Iirc, Scott actually expressed disdain for the book and pulled his own "better" ending out of his ass.

Went to see the Dragon Tattoo movie, and this preview was played. 16 people asked if it was another Alien movie. *facepalmed*

Going to have to go with the second one.... That would be one screwed up android otherwise :P

Doesn't every Hannibal Lecter film have an altered ending? SotL was the only one I've seen where the altered one wasn't the polar opposite of the book ending.

taczillabr: Seriously, no thread about it here? What did you guys thought of the following trailer? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lQ1q_fTC-a8

I liked it. Also liked this, I thought it could be way way worse, I'm a big fan of the first movie: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IyaFEBI_L24

Can't wait for Pacific Rim too. :)
Not gonna lie, Prometheus looks like one hell of a sci-fi flick. I know it's just a trailer, but god damn do I love sci-fi. Also, MIB 3? I didn't even know that was a thing until just now. So many kinds of yes :)

PS, what's up with the Inception music? Seems it's in everything these days.
Bump.

So Prometheus is out (apparently released last week). For those that have seen it, what are your thoughts? Good? Bad? Mediocre?

Good, you won't hate it, doesn't live up to the hype. The problem is there is more than one narrative, due to Scott finding a more interesting story along the way and downplaying the Alien aspect, this has the unfortunate effect of showing just how fucking boring the narrative about the Alien portion of the film is. Also, since there's 2-3 narratives (depending on how you look at them) there's 2-3 endings as well, which annoyed some folks, though I thought they were all necessary.

So basically, the film probably would have been better and far more interesting had it had nothing at all to do with Alien.

Two of my nitpicks were: 1) the film progressed the narratives way too fast at some points, leading me to believe large portions of the story were cut or (worse) never even filmed, I hope it's the former because there very well could be a 3 hour director's cut version later on, and 2) there's a couple of things you deduce are happening or have happened in the film, then the film spoils the moment by blatantly stating "X happened" in a really obvious and insulting manner, I could have been drunk out of my mind and picked up on it before; this happened at least twice.

As for the 3D, well much ado was made about him having filmed in 3D and while the 3D didn't look bad, it wasn't spectacular either, most of it was muted, but present. Scott also neglected some of the really impressive 3D shots he could have gone for (such as a pan around of the Prometheus landing). I didn't spot any shots that had been framed specifically for 3D which leads me to believe he didn't need to do 2 shots of some scenes and nothing in the 2D version will be different or jarring (3D shots can be incredibly jarring in 2D, especially since 3D often doesn't follow the rule of thirds). So go, with whatever you feel like. A single concession stand item in the US will run you more than the 3D glasses, so if you're on the fence sneak in your drink or candy bar and pay the premium, if you don't generally care, you won't be missing anything you'll regret.

It's pretty good, but not perfect.

The good stuff is that they made good use of the Alien universe and created something new. The tone of the movie is somewhere in between Alien and Aliens, so horror-mystery-action mash up.
It's nice that there is no big reveal of anything considering this movie or any of the previous, it's all very open to speculation.
Not to mention how Michael Fassbender dominates with his performance through the whole movie.

The bad - well it has plot holes aplenty (written by a Lost series writer, no wonder), some reactions and how some characters act in certain situations is just nonsensical.
On the positive these aren't very obvious to the viewer, because of great pacing and can be covered by the viewer's imagination since it's very open to interpretation what is going on.

I feel there was a pretty big reveal as to the nature of the Xenomorphs, but the movie had the good grace to not shove it in your face.
I think the OP meant "Prometheus by Damon Lindeldorf".

Great scifi film, not nearly as deep or philosophical as is being made out though. There is one question, and one only, and it's basically,..

SPOILER¡!!!¡

Noahs Ark part 2.
