FiatLux: Hi ! ,
I know that a lot of people will probably get very mad at me for writing this - but as I have never been very popular anyway then I really do not care.....
I've been thinking this thread and its discussions over and I have come to the conclusion that a lot of people have a very petty attitude about this.... (With this I mean vhere to preorder from)
Yes , some people say : buy from the developer because then you will support the developer the most because the developer will then get the most money out of it.
Other people says : buy from the developer then you will get a Steam Key also (and that kind of sounded attractive to me too until I had time to think it over.....)
With respect to supporting the developer by buying directly from the developer then I would say , OK! , but really!! , why give extra support to a developer that will rather give its money to a DRM tight place like Steam than to GOG.com ???.
With respect to getting a Steam key then I think that it is purely either psychological or very petty... Cause in the end , then as long as you get the game (and the GOG.com goodies) then why should one really care if one gets a freakin' Steam key or not......
I think that people should make a statement by buying the game from GOG!!!!
A statement that says that not only do we want our games to be DRM free but we would also much rather support a DRM free place like GOG.com than a DRM tight place like Steam....
Yes , the game would look nice on your Steam shelf if you have one or the Steam key could possibly (I don't know) be traded (?) But in the end any such thing no matter the motive would only be an act of supporting Steam rather than GOG.com.....
Anyone who knows enough about Steam and it policies and doings would rather be supporting GOG.lcom than Steam....
Now ! , I have made a statement as to what I think but I do not want to waste my life discussing this endlessly here in this forum. If you agree with what I have written then "Great" , if you do not then I do not care if you want to poor out your rage on me (wouldn't be the first time people have been doing that) so if you do not agree to my "statement" then I am sorry but do not hold your breath for me wasting my time on discussing it with you here......
The price for the game will be the same if you preorder so why not "make a statement" and support GOG.com by preordering from GOG.com if you really want the game and really wants to support the concept of a (potentially) DRM free "game world"..... ????!!!!
(Until "people" generally starts making statements like that when having the CLEAR CHOICE then I do not think that we are going to see any major shifts in how things work - if we ever will that is...)
I agree I had noticed their website and I thought also why should some money go to steam when I have no intention of using their service, wasted key, wasted funds. Also why cut out GOG when I probably wouldn't have heard of the game without the big Release on GOG anyway, that deserves a little bit of a cut at least.
