Why does averybody wants a steam edition, steam hasnt confirm too my knowledge that they put in Archievments. I rathey stay trough to gog thanks to them i can play my old games again :) But that is my opiniun

Lexor: Maybe but there are more extras on GOG :)

TheEnigmaticT: Very slightly different goodies. We have a few exclusive wallpapers and concept artworks as well as everything the Almost Human guys sell.
avatar
Lexor:
wallpapers and art work are listed among the developer goodies as well, and getting both a Steam key and a DRM-free installer beats any goodie you could possibly think of.

The ultimate win scenario would be if they provided a GOG code as well :P

Not for me - I don't care about Steam.

The devs actually are spamming that information alot. Steam versione has achievement because they could take advantage of Steamwork. Implementing achievement on other version would be too much work.

That would be the optimal solution and the more fair.
GOG should make a pact with humble store guys to unlock games that are in GOG catalogue because right now the only good reason to buy on GOG this kind of game is to have them tied to the GOG account in a similar way a user want to have a game tied to his Steam account.

Grimlock devs are not too fair about how they sell the game because actually they are pushing the on site version using the bonus steam key as leverage.

I don't think so. Yes, devs give you option to download client free installer but it won't be permanent option. I don't think that it will be hosted forever on their site. So you have to keep backup of installer for that case. If you have this game on GOG you don't have to worry about it, because you can always redownload DRM free version.

I don't actually see reason why I would want to buy Steam version.

nijuu: So for those who buy preorder cause u get Steam key. U don't support DRM free concept anymore? ;)
Of course we do :). I bought it both from GoG and direct. Achievements are not a big issue unless the dev takes part in a steam holiday promo that gives stuff away for completing achievements. My steam copy of the game will sit there uninstalled until an achievement must be completed to increase my chance of getting free stuff. Maybe if I had to choose one I'd have canceled my GoG order since the direct offer is better, but I like GoG.com too much to cancel my preorder from them. And honestly the download system from the humble store guys is nowhere near as nice. I have to look for all my purchase emails to get the links to my DRM free games on there and the link in the email doesn't list what games are in there so it's a real pain to use.

Then you made mistake because if you will need achievement then this game will be on at least 75% sale :P. They always do this during those promos.

50+ votes on each title since yesterday! Please do keep them coming :D
Why wait?
Why dont release it just now?
There is no actual physical copy so there is no need to wait for games to be pressed and shipped to stores.

Because that's developer's wish? They still have some time to improve some last minute things.

DM could be the next game - but EoB should be first here.

Less love then.;)
Anyhow, is GOG even close to getting DM, anyway? I mean, whoever owns FTL stuff now.

Also, the new forum reply notifier is cool. ;)

Also, i can't seem to find Yendorian Tales on the wishlist anymore, and i'm pretty sure i added one myself one day. What the hell, GOG?

but it's not necessary since the standalone installer you get if you buy directly from the developers' website is identical with the GOG one. this has been stated by a developer in the official forum.

Lexor: Not for me - I don't care about Steam.
don't you get it? you also get the same DRM-free installer you'd get from GOG if you buy directly from the devs.

buy from Steam: only get Steam edition
buy from GOG: only get DRM-free edition
buy from devs: get both

but it's already gone gold. which means the version we'll get to download April 11 is the one finished two days ago. they're probably working on a patch until then, though.

i figure they aren't releasing the game right now because they want the distributors to have some time to set everything up. and to create some marketing buzz.

maybe so but the indie bundles are the same way, and you're still buying those, aren't you?

anyway, you get a DRM-free installer which you can back up, and you get a Steam edition which will be downloadable until the end of (your) time. if all else fails, you can pick up an additional DRM-free copy from GOG when the game goes on sale.

Yes , but then they would have to give GOG some money. also.... ;-)

And I think that they will have to pay Steam for that also !!!
