In some countries flashing Nazi symbolism is legal, in some it's not, in all of them it is obscene. I for one think obscenity should be legal but that doesn't make it any less horrific or traumatic and we have no one to blame for it but the Nazi's themselves. And just remember, the 3rd Reich wasn't a blight on Germany, it was a blight on humanity period. Those monsters were human, just like us, and we all have that weight to bare.

Yes it is unfortunate that your country often get put in the same group as Germany and Austria simply because some of your countrymen speak German. But publishers want to make money so most of the time they would prefer to sell the uncensored version of a game because that is was people want and hence it would make them more money. But yes, it does suck and now it seems some games get censored all over Europe like South Park game due to German censorship in the EU.

It's fine to restrict what kids can buy but it is retarded to do it for adults. We can decide for ourselves what we find acceptable to look at and that includes Nazi symbolism.

There's no import when it comes to digital distribution, and even in spite of boxes being sold, those games are digitally distributed regardless. Generally, digital distribution is where lines get extremely fuzzy and some companies like to play it safe. Ultimately, without the strict censorship in Germany, this would never be a problem.

Yea, one of the reasons why I will leave this country. The other ones ironically include the growing fear of another holocaust, based on the census 2011 (google for Volkszählung 2011) and the laws that the government party passed and tried to pass, including some that would essentially allow them to shoot civilian planes at will (this was, luckily, overthrown by the federal court, google for Luftsicherheitsgesetz). Also, everyone now must include biometric data in their ID card. And there are many more that point to another holocaust coming up.

I think the danger by the census 2011 for a new holocaust is much bigger than any nazi symbolism in video games ever. But that thing was legal. Sure, they only asked some percent of people (I would rather have paid the mandatory 5000 Euro fine than telling them about my religion if they would have asked me) but it was bad enough to remind everyone of the census 1939, especially as they also brought together registers of different federal offices for it, including the labor office (Arbeitsamt) and the registration office (Einwohnermeldeamt).

Because only after 9/11 they could bring down all protection mechanisms against the holocaust, that is for example the inability of the government to spy on people, having two different polices for different tasks (Polizei and Bundesgrenzschutz), the inability to bring data connected on people by different offices together, etc.

The "anti-terror" laws pretty much remind me of the laws that were made in the 1930s where the government got total insight and control of its citizens.
