You know who's fault it is? The 3rd Reich!
I am not even kidding and I'm not trying to be silly.

It's the same with the Hitler mustache. Before that fucker you could get away with that look and even might get complimented on it for being a big Charlie Chaplin fan. Not now. Be it right or wrong it's forbidden and no amount of fashion bravado is going to make it acceptable in society.

In some countries flashing Nazi symbolism is legal, in some it's not, in all of them it is obscene. I for one think obscenity should be legal but that doesn't make it any less horrific or traumatic and we have no one to blame for it but the Nazi's themselves. And just remember, the 3rd Reich wasn't a blight on Germany, it was a blight on humanity period. Those monsters were human, just like us, and we all have that weight to bare.
ALIENS !!!11!11!1!!!!

Emob78: Because here in America we have something called FREEDOM. Freedom of speech isn't just the right to say things that others agree with, it's also the right to say things that other DON'T agree with. This concept has sadly become antithetical to those in many other places around the world.
Oh sure, try to hang a couple of swasticas around your house and start publically hailing, see how far your freedom takes you :-P Or, for that matter, start joking about bombs at airports...

Protoss: [
So, thanks to Ubisoft and Bethesda for telling me I too worthless to play your games and you don't want my money! I will keep that in mind when you release other stuff here! I can wait for the 90p off deals, can you too?

jepsen1977: Okay this is the dumbest thing I read in a long time. It's not Ubi's or Bethesda's fault here. They are simply following the law. The problem is with the German government and their strange view on Nazi symbolism. Don't hate the publishers who are simply following what they are forced to follow. Hate your own damn government and tell them to cut that shit out.
There is no single law that forbids import. There is only a law that forbids the sale.

So - in your words - hate Bethesda and Valve and tell them to cut that shit out.
avatar
Gersen: But then again, we don't have those laws here in Switzerland (yet... at least) and not only we only have access to the LV version of the game... but also only to the German version even thought a sizable part of Switzerland, myself included, don't speak German. I doubt it's our government fault for that....
Yes it is unfortunate that your country often get put in the same group as Germany and Austria simply because some of your countrymen speak German. But publishers want to make money so most of the time they would prefer to sell the uncensored version of a game because that is was people want and hence it would make them more money. But yes, it does suck and now it seems some games get censored all over Europe like South Park game due to German censorship in the EU.

It's fine to restrict what kids can buy but it is retarded to do it for adults. We can decide for ourselves what we find acceptable to look at and that includes Nazi symbolism.

There's no import when it comes to digital distribution, and even in spite of boxes being sold, those games are digitally distributed regardless. Generally, digital distribution is where lines get extremely fuzzy and some companies like to play it safe. Ultimately, without the strict censorship in Germany, this would never be a problem.

Yea, one of the reasons why I will leave this country. The other ones ironically include the growing fear of another holocaust, based on the census 2011 (google for Volkszählung 2011) and the laws that the government party passed and tried to pass, including some that would essentially allow them to shoot civilian planes at will (this was, luckily, overthrown by the federal court, google for Luftsicherheitsgesetz). Also, everyone now must include biometric data in their ID card. And there are many more that point to another holocaust coming up.

I think the danger by the census 2011 for a new holocaust is much bigger than any nazi symbolism in video games ever. But that thing was legal. Sure, they only asked some percent of people (I would rather have paid the mandatory 5000 Euro fine than telling them about my religion if they would have asked me) but it was bad enough to remind everyone of the census 1939, especially as they also brought together registers of different federal offices for it, including the labor office (Arbeitsamt) and the registration office (Einwohnermeldeamt).

Yeah, right.
And who will be targeted in the holocaust this time from your point of view? And why hasn't the new holocaust already started after the census in 1987?
But I guess you're right, if you feel safer elsewhere it might be better to leave the country.

Pretty much this.
let me get this straight,Protoss thinks that there's going to be a new holocaust.so by that logic, the nazi party is still on power!*MIND=BLOWN*
seriously dude, lay down the conspiracy theories.what's next, the Illuminati are behind the U.N or that the lunar landing was a hoax?
And why hasn't the new holocaust already started after the census in 1987?

I doubt the writer was already born 1987.

In my 30+ years in grass-roots politics I have seen and had to listen to a lot of such disoriented minds; I have learnt to just ignore such verbal diarrhoea, as a form of self-protection.
When it's not possible to discuss with the writer in a reasonable manner, then it's better to join the party and bring some beer.

In UK (i.e. ROW version) it will also be cut, only U.S. version is uncut.

Because only after 9/11 they could bring down all protection mechanisms against the holocaust, that is for example the inability of the government to spy on people, having two different polices for different tasks (Polizei and Bundesgrenzschutz), the inability to bring data connected on people by different offices together, etc.

The "anti-terror" laws pretty much remind me of the laws that were made in the 1930s where the government got total insight and control of its citizens.

Also now they want to unite the data of police and secret services, i.e. creating a new Gestapo in violation of another fundamental anti-holocaust law.

You do realise that citing the DWN is like citing BILD, right? It's a not a reliable news source but a conspiracy theory site that regularly gets attention by publishing stuff that is proven not to be true.
The most funny one was this, I'd say.
http://www.taz.de/!115202/
But their strange articles about cancer cures and radioactivity aren't far behind.

But, well, if that is where you get your news that explains a lot.
