Dzsono: The lowest price model had ads? Who would voluntarily pay for such a thing?!
Yeah, Amazon does that now with they're low cost model. I'm sure for some people who might not be able to afford it, that extra $20 of makes sense. But it's beyond tacky IMHO, and these readers are pretty durable as long as you protect the face from being smashed.
StingingVelvet: Amazon have always had the BEST customer service of any company in my experience. One woman spouting a one-sided story does not change my mind about that.
Bear in mind that this is amazon.co.uk which has a different set of managers handling customer service, they apparently don't have as good of a reputation as amazon.com does.
That being said, of course you should wait to make up your mind, it's easy to come to the wrong conclusion if there's been some miscommunication. And on the face of it, it's ridiculous for them to take all the books away without either compensating the user or giving a detailed explanation and justification for the action.
It's more or less impossible to fight such a thing if they won't give you any information about why.
