Balnazzardi: Well I suggested the development team that they should really consider viral marketing through Youtube "stars" like Toby "Tobuscus" Turner or Pewdiepie to get more people know about this game and potentially get those people who watch them to fund this project. Both of those guys upload game-related vids, both have massive fanbase, it certainly wouldnt hurt to try to contact them and ask for their help, Toby even does that kind of viral marketing for his primary job I think. So getting one of them to upload even one video about Outcast could help a lot with the funding, atleast that's one of the best ways more people would get to know Outcast.
groze: Are you aware of how much those YouTube "stars" charge, to play/show a game, when asked to?! I was part of the backers for the unsuccessful Shadow of the Eternals Kickstarter, and since the community played a big part in that one (basically, Denis Dyack is burned out in the industry, and had us doing his job), we had to get in touch with some of those modern day public figures, to see if they would play Eternal Darkness, the game to which SotE would be a spiritual successor. Those guys, like some actual stars, are huge divas, PewDiePie -- whom I find annoying as hell --, in particular, asked for an insane amount of money and, on top of that, required us to basically gift him a GameCube in order to play the game, as he didn't seem to have one.
When people turn to Kickstarter, it's usually because their budget is tight, and all the money they make should go to the development of the project. I don't think spending thousands of dollars on YouTube divas is money well spent.
Well maybe not, but the fact is, this game needs to get more attention, one way or another, or I doubt it will ever get the funding it needs. And if you know PewDie's fanbase (I agree btw he is annoying, and unfortuntely most of his fanbse too) its quite massive, so atleast that way the game would get the attention it needs...But Ofcourse if they charge ridicilous sums, then there is no point ofcourse, another option is what Finnish developer Bugbear (developer of Flatout, Rally Trophy, Ridge Raced Unbounded) did with their "Next-Car-Game". They too tried to get funding with Kickstarter, but after that failed, they went to Steam, with playable demo and created early-access pgrogam there that was quite succesfull. They managed to get all the money they needed and more that way. So ye, I hope that one way or another Outcast would somehow get the attention it needs, right now the fanbase that it has is not going to be enough.
