One of the early missions as a Jedi Counsellor in TOR concerns a relationship petween two padawans, finding out the truch about their relationship and telling their masters (brings light points and gets them punished), or keeping it secret (brings dark points).
No, the Jedi way is very much "free yourself from emotions, focus on the force", while the Sith/Dark Jedi instead revel in emotions, with anger being the strongest and thus the best way to increase your (destructive) force powers. I suspect "positive" emotions like love would be much better than anger for increasing the potency of similarly aligned force powers (healing and whatnot) (if there is such a thing as alignment regarding pure force powers), but Jedi generally try to avoid emotions.
