Klingbeil: as for the simple "this game is awesome!!!" 5 star reviews. was that helpful? absolutely not. click that [NO] button and move on.
avatar
Cormoran: The same applies to the reviews you take issue with, there's no need to create complaint threads on the forums and no need to abuse the spam report button, just press 'no' and move on.
and you would be absolutely wrong. this is an issue with the GOG community that needs to be addressed and a resolution created. don't like it or don't have a real solution? then click that "rate this post" button and move on.

F1ach: Some of the 5 star nimrods need a kick in the arse too....whats a nimrod?
avatar
tinyE: A nimrod is actually a biblical reference to a warrior, so I guess it doesn't really work does it? Interesting fact, I live a few hours north of a town who's high school football teams is The Nimrods.
That's pretty hilarious given what most people in the U.S. think when they see the word nimrod. Does that school try to do a lot of explaining to persuade people's understanding of the word before football games?

Funny you should ask. Its a tiny town and a fews years ago ESPN did a series of commercials featuring the town and the school which made all of them minor celebs. They were on Jay Leno and a few others.

I've never actually been to the school or anything. The town is 4 or so hours south of me in another state actually and makes Mayberry look like Chicago.

It does seem a bit out of place :)

The issue is yours alone, you don't like their review so you complain instead of just saying it's not helpful. There's no "community issue" here, that's just you making a mountain out of a molehill.

King Nimrod was a great hunter, and so "nimrod" can have that meaning.
However, he was also responsible for the construction of the Tower of Babel and therefore all language barriers, so "nimrod" can also mean "total moron who ruins everything for everyone." In the US, the second meaning is substantially more common than the first.

Next time someone says that video games are rotting my brain I'm sending them here.

Thank You. I will keep a note of that should it come up again, which given the variety of this forum, might.

not at all. people that don't know what a review is supposed to be, are using it improperly and GOG needs to do something about the people that taint the ratings with "reviews" that should be support requests.

your issue with my post is yours and yours alone. don't like it? rate it and move on. i'm using the community forum for what it was made for. please feel free to ignore the thread unless you actually have something useful to add. no one is making you read it.

so far the best idea was from ShadowWulfe with a suggestion of a "No Rating" option. perhaps a new button with "can't get it to work with my OS" followed by a drop down menu to choose their OS, since the people that give 1 star reviews don't seem to understand what an actual review is for.

GOG doesn't give a set of rules for reviews, people can review it how they see fit. You don't get to tell others how they should review something.

And way to be childish in attempting to parrot my advice to you, but then i guess i should expect that from someone who outright calls others 'nimrods' just because they disagree with them.

In the 30's Bugs Bunny once referred to Elmer Fudd as "Nimrod", to mock him for presuming himself to be a competant hunter. His name was invoked in irony, and that usage has stuck. Einstein's name is often used in a similar way to refer to people who acted on a really bad idea, except that he's more well-known than Nimrod so the irony is more often intentional.

Cool explanation, have a sip of some nice warm rep :)

you're just proving my point that something needs to be done about their broken review process.

and the fact that you keep coming back just means that you have no intent of doing anything other than trolling.
