TwilightBard: I think that might end up being the source of the headaches, they might be worried it's someone changing the email because they can't get past the Guard.
macuahuitlgog: Well I shouldn't be punished just because we live in a world full of such people who hack into people's accounts. They should only expect me to prove the ownership of every game on the account if someone already stole my account, and I tell Steam, someone did such a thing, and I want my account back. And maybe they really just want my CC info and I'm not being treated like a criminal by Steam, just by their automated message, time will tell.
Thank you all for the quick responses.
Tell me about it, I've been fighting with PayPal for the last month because they seem to think that I shouldn't be buying anything while using an IP from outside of the US. I'm fine with them requiring verification, but there is no way of confirming via the website that the transaction was authorized and they reversed a couple of transactions without consulting me.
Very inconvenient. Ultimately, I purchased via a US IP via VPN and paid the money, but it's disgusting how PayPal treats vendors. And I wasn't even trying to scam the vendor, I really want to pay for what I bought.
Steam, I mostly have trouble with being offline unexpectedly at random times, most of the horror stories I read about don't apply to me. But, I don't buy games from them any more and apparently they no longer take back games that were legitimately purchased.
