I was actually expecting a lot more rage posting, downreping, Sentence-for-sentence reply in a wall-of-text format quoting, caps lock banging and butt-hurt insulting by this point. Everything was well within acceptable standards. Well done forum!

ashout: Just like Jesus would have been! lol. i'm kidding. Gazoinks: Actually, there was this Chinese guy whose name I forget who preached a lot of the peace and love stuff way before Jesus' time. Don't know if that counts, though.
ashout: don't the chinese believe in reincarnation? or is that hindu...at any rate, if you believe that then i suppose the chinese guy COULD have been Jesus! I was going to say this as well. :)

Well, I'm happy my vote counted. It really wasn't a pro-Obama vote nearly so much as it was an anti-Republican vote. Sadly, though, Republicans still control the House and have enough in the Senate to filibuster any meaningful legislation. I predict another four years of Republican lockstep marching to block any and all efforts to resolve our problems. Then, of course, it will be the President's fault that said problems aren't resolved.

Holy shit I never thought I would ever see ANYONE defending Pinochet. Even less in a thread about the USA's election. That is some... staggering lack of perspective right there.
Seriously, just astounding.

infinite9: The only morons are the ones who re-elected the piece of shit and I hope much of them get stage 4 cancer.
StingingVelvet: Your voice of reason has swayed me with its wisdom. I am a born-again conservative. The moron calling for assassination provides a very clear view into Republicanism. I'm happy that you profited thereby; and I too feel a sense of justification. It's good to not be him.

I think this is inevitable. Even if Romney had won, the democrats in the Senate would have blocked his legislation as well. It is just a testament to how polarized the U.S. is right now.
Edit: Bleh, that link isn't exactly the best one. I just took the first one that wasn't from a Right-wing blog or something. But, regardless, Harry Reid did say that the Senate would block Romney's agenda if he were elected.
If by 'compromises and bargains' you mean more ear-marks and pork-barrel spending, then I suppose we may be seeing a lot of that in the next few years.

This. I was going to say something myself, but saw StingingVelvet's words of wisdom and decided to take a deep breath and just move on.

Btw. how does the legal gay marriage in some states only work? Do you just have to move to this state, get married and you are married everywhere or are you then married in some and not married in other states (in a legal sense)?

I'm a fake American. I'm secretly a neurotic Russian patriarch, as seen in my avatar.
My guess would be that the marriage license is only acknowledged as, well, a marriage license in states that allow legal gay marriage. So in a state without it, you wouldn't legally count as married even if you had a license? That's just a guess though, I don't really know.
