Trilarion: Btw. how does the legal gay marriage in some states only work? Do you just have to move to this state, get married and you are married everywhere or are you then married in some and not married in other states (in a legal sense)?
That's a complicated question. In Canada, IIRC, most jurisdictions will recognize your marriage if it is considered valid in the jurisdiction of your domicile. (In other words, Area A might not consider the marriage valid, but if you live in Area B and have a marriage license from Area B, then Area A will recognize it as a form of interjurisdicitonal "politeness", even though they would not have granted it themselves.) However, the question of what counts as your "domicile" can get incredibly weird and arcane. Not sure how this works in the US, though.
