CaptainGyro: I heard a bunch of times that it was better than the first, what's wrong with it?

StingingVelvet: The Wii was the winner last gen hardware wise because of casuals, not the hardcore. The Gamecube proved that the hardcore Nintendo faithful are not enough to propel a console to the top spot.

Of course winning hardware this generation only really benefited Nintendo and a few select partners, the software sales were lacking. Their strategy this time of making a machine that can handle ports is extremely flawed because a)no one is going to buy it for ports right now as they already own an Xbox, PS3 or gaming PC, and b)there are new machines with higher specs coming out next year which will make ports improbably on the WiiU.

And the controller, IMO, is not going to rope in casuals. They have pads already for puzzle games and the WiiU has buttons, analog sticks and a lot of other issues. Also I bet most casuals are bored of the Wii and were bored of it years ago. Why would they buy another Wii? That is how they will see it.

RayRay13000: I liked it as much as the first one from the times I got to play it (although I don't own it). It's really just the same thing as Super Mario Galaxy 2 but with different levels and Yoshi. The story is pretty much the same with Peach getting kidnapped and Mario off to save the day...again.

gameon: I dont know, because when i heard it included a screen on the controller, i didn't think it had ever been done on a home controller (unless you count the dreamcast). I also heard rumours you could use the controller screen as the main screen (without needing a tv) Whether that's true or not i don't know. But it is a selling point.

orcishgamer: You can, but try and imagine playing a 1080p picture on a 5 inch screen, it's unpleasant at best. Everything is too bloody small to interact with, etc. Yes, if you get kicked off your WiiU's TV you can simply switch to screen only play, but as a selling point I see that as rather niche.

Cambrey: I haven't taken the time to investigate, but I was wondering if you could boot the game directly on your handheld, or if you have to start the game on your Wii and then switch it over.

gameon: Good question. From the video it seems that you can launch from the controller straight to the tv. But whether it would boot straight to the controller screen is another question.

If you have to select all the options on the big screen each time before the switch, it would be a bit slow to be "portable". But even so it seems like a neat feature.

I wonder how the Wii-U compares to the gaming capability of the PS Vita. I say that because i just checked that the Vita has a 5 inch screen aswell. It also does HD video and has graphics comparable to a PS3 from what i've heard.

Sure a Wii-U isn't fully portable, but it's controller would function in a somewhat similar way.

orcishgamer: It's actually way lighter than it looks. It is, however, ergonomically tragic on the right side, the buttons and the thumb stick have terrible spatial relationships to each other.
