May your copyright strikes move with increased speed grumpy old one with better games than Xbone and PS4!
Also, makes sense since AMD was bragging about powering a new console. Hope of PC porting probably went from nope-210% to nope-200%.

New Starfox for WiiU. Already performed better than the M$ and $ony ones considering number of good games.

Wii U will still have backwards compatibility with Wii games. Where this new console will most likely not.

Also Wii U will get the new Zelda (unless they pull a Twilight Princess and port it to the new console)

''cough'' BAYONETTA 2 ''cough''
Mario Cart 8 and other family friendly games no one outside the EU, Australia US or Japan can get.
It is in fact very understandable to work on new hardware at this point. Considering a lifecycle of 5-6 years per console, Nintendo should be better working on a new system already to replace the WiiU. ... in 3-4 years! That's normal. What is not is to announce it so early on. It's possible that the confirmation just slipped or Miyamoto was misunderstood. But if it was an intentional announcement, I find that kinda misplaced. You don't do that so early on. It just shakes the trust of your customers. Then again, sometimes I feel like Nintendo doesn't give much about what their customers think.

I don't understand what the fuzz is all about.
You release a console, you start developing the next one after a short period of time. Companies usually don't talk about this so early, but in case of the Wii U, I'm not supprised at all.

bayonetta is not exactly a compelling reason fo rme to get a wii U
nor is mario Kart 8

i want a wii U for the vc titles
@ThermioN
Especially because the Wii U is not doing that well, you should not try to undermine it yourself. Sure you can lure non-buyers with the promise of new and better hardware but that's a kick in the nuts for those who DID buy the console already - i.e. the only "fans" Nintendo still has. I dunno - maybe that's "good marketing" - the future will show.

the fuss is about you as a customer make an investment and in return for that investment you get 5 to 6 years of use and games out of it

the announcment of the new nintendo console pretty much shatters that trust because why bother getting the wii U now if the new nintendo is coming soon TM ?

thats what killed sega
they made promises they couldntt keep and killed the megadrive and 32 X and sega cd in quick succession and then let the saturn die in the west in favor for the dreamcast

the 32X is particularly egregious because it was barley a year old when sega killed it and sega promised full multi year support

so this is pretty much the death knell for the wii U

...sega fans would debate otherwise

Right. The past DID show already. I forgot. Oh well. I just hope Nintendo will not just become another publisher. I rather see all their IPs vanish in Abandon-realm instead of being handled by other companies. Would break my heart. It's too late for Nintendo to "die a hero" anyway.
Predictable. Probably the new Zelda will be both for WiiU and the next Nintendo console. I don't know if launching a new console is a good move, anyway, instead of supporting WiiU.
If they can obtain third parties support, it can reveal a good move, but they need to take out a good hardware, better then PS4 and One. If they'll play this well, they can burn Sony and Microsoft.

Bayonetta 1, 2 and Wonderful 101 are perfectly good reasons to get a wiiu
No surprise there, as sales have been terrible for the Wii U. They haven't even reached the original forecast (9 millions) of the previous year.
