Nutella keeps me sane....a sane CB doesn't leave a big body count. Nutella is healthy for society. Nothing about nutritiousness this is about giving me my bread and circuses.
The country's finally sunk to that point: the government is stupid, the majority of people whom it represents are stupid, and the only way to save America is for the minority of smart people to take away the privileges the stupid people should never have been granted to begin with, starting with voting, jury service, and the ability to file lawsuits for anything but grievous physical trauma resulting from a totally unprovoked attack.
OH NOES. MY LIFE IS OVER

I thought that chocolate, powdered milk, lots of sugar, powdered sugar WERE GOOD TO ME :(
And please don't tell me that by drinking Red Bull I won't grow a pair of wings. That would be end of everything.

You should be careful, if your wish comes true you might lose the privilege to post on forums...

SimonG: And people jumping at the woman who made this case are directly working into the hands of those corporations, because with so much scrutiny, others won't come forward as easily.

But hey, it's not like the US has an obesity problem or anything...
Not really. I can think for myself. I don't need any court to tell me what is healthy for my kids and what is not.

People who really believed nutella was healthy for their children, should be castrated. Amen.

I'm not saying that this woman was stupid. She was clever, because she found easy lawsuit.

But if somebody blindly believes in all advertisements and they need courts to tell them "that advert was false", that is a clear mark that society is stupid.

Do you already have your law degree?
Simon, I'm hardly the first person in history to notice that democracy cuts its own throat, that the sort of irresponsible, irrational behavior common people like is ultimately lethal to democratic government. I'd sooner entrust my liberties to a monarch bred to rule, tempered by an aristocracy equally bred to rule, than to a mob of people raised by their televisions and told their dunghill ideas are just as good as their betters'.
Why that question? Yes, I know there are plenty of shark lawyers who seek for easy lawsuits of false advertisement.

I don't see why such things shoul be resolved by law. If I was cheated once by some manufacturer, who told me "this shit is healthy" , I would never buy from them again. Simple as that.

Going to court to force company to change it's advertisement? Nope.

I hate when govt. / judicial system treats citizens like they were braindead, and do everything for them. Starting from retirement , minimal wages, through telling them "what's bad for ya".

I'm sick of that treatement.

Where do you draw the line? Recently there has been a study that showed people who ate moderate amounts of chocolate lose weight faster than people who don't eat chocolate at all. Hazelnut oil is very, very healthy and glucose is very important for higher brain functions.

So I don't blame people who think eating three or four slices of Nutella is actually healthy, or at least not bad.

Now apply that to more difficult questions. Car manufacturing, IT products or drugs. I'm certainly no expert on pharmaceuticals. We have a drug sold over the counter here which is called "Grippostat C". It is advertised as an "all cure against cold" for the whole family. Very bright and funny commerical, btw. But it can cause massive kidney and liver damage if taken in to high amounts. You know what to high is? A little bit more of the suggested dosage.

And don't call people idiots because they aren't an expert on all subjects. Plenty right here on this forum honestly think piracy is similar to theft and abandonware is legal. Or that they own their games. I would love to call them idiots, because imo that is just stupid even to think. But I don't.

The state has the obligation to look after the weakest in our society, because most corporations surely don't. And those who buy into advertisement are usually already the socially and intellectually weakest of any society. Those must be protected. Just as we are protected against imprisonment without charge etc.

If you are representing the legal standards of polish universities your country will have a lot of fun in Straßburg....

Thanks for personal attacks. This forums really bloom lately.

Looking after the weakest doesn't imply treating everybody as a freaking idiot. I can't decide for myself, because govt. is forcing me to decide what's good for me. (like genious idea to limit alcohol sells, lately) It's not looking after anybody.

Also, in Poland there's not much riddiculous lawsuits, because folks in Poland are not stupid, and they can think for themselves. They don't need a big freaking warning on cigarettes package to say them "it's bad for ya". Because they KNOW that.

Also, I wouldn't care for Strasbourg much, because EU is a giant on clay legs (is that an expression?), and will fall down soon. And I also believe there are more rulings in strasbourg against Germany, than there are against Poland, btw.

PS. EU courts are not the finest examples of liberal point of view, so cut the crap.

Excerpts from one of the fathers of fascism: Benito Mussolini, 1932

"After Socialism, Fascism combats the whole complex system of democratic ideology, and repudiates it, whether in its theoretical premises or in its practical application. Fascism denies that the majority, by the simple fact that it is a majority, can direct human society; it denies that numbers alone can govern by means of a periodical consultation, and it affirms the immutable, beneficial, and fruitful inequality of mankind, which can never be permanently leveled through the mere operation of a mechanical process such as universal suffrage."

"The Fascist State organizes the nation, but leaves a sufficient margin of liberty to the individual; the latter is deprived of all useless and possibly harmful freedom, but retains what is essential; the deciding power in this question cannot be the individual, but the State alone."
Sound familiar? Both in this thread and real world?

That's cute. Next, go look up fascist popularity in Italy, and Nazi popularity in Germany. Both were, their antidemocratic rhetoric notwithstanding, mass movements, mob movements, far closer to the Tea Party or Occupy Wall Street movements than to the old European aristocracies.

If I read a stupid and childish opinion, I call out on it.

Anyway, I'm done discussion socio-economic issues with you. In due time you will grow out of all this "Ron Paul BS". Up until then, enjoy your ignorance as it certainly does make life easier.

And I love it how you always agitate against the EU. I wonder were what you would been doing right now if it hadn't been for billions of euros funneled into Poland for economical aid ...
here is an expanding consumer movement underway. A broad movement across many spectrum of food and product related concerns. Its expanding globally. A movement creating actionable change. Such as Burger Kings announcement of cage-free chickens and pork. Preceded by an industry reversal on Pink Slime. LoL, how iconic that. Pink Slime. These things happened because people demonstrated there was a market for it. The market for cage-free chickens expands, so now there are more oppurtunities for small farmers to enter the meat bird market. So long as the government doesn't get in the way, on behalf of the big box industrials.

For some time now, Farmers Markets and cooperatives have been growing in number (in the US anyhow). Meaning more people going to them. So more local food needing to be grown, employing more local people. With more money getting cycled through the community. Meaning more local taxes are generated, so more money for teachers and paramedics, roads et all. Additionally, People get healthier food, while spending less on food and medical expense. And more. It's all win.

Some local products become exportable, benefiting multiple economies. The money moves through communities from the ground up. Versus "trickling down" from upon high. Which by the time it reaches the earth, comes as only a light mist if at all. And it's just piss, scraps. Not enough to adequately sustain our communities. And it's our own damn fault! We pay them to do this to us. We buy their product, which funds their pwnage. We export our precious local markets to far off mega-corporations who funnel most of the money into the corrupted distortion, known as corporate government. Fascism if you will.

To those who dismiss this type talk to tin foil hat crap, look to history, even recent. For the US, perhaps start with General Smedley Butler's book "War Is A Racket"...
"I spent 33 years and four months in active military service and during that period I spent most of my time as a high class muscle man for Big Business, for Wall Street and the bankers. In short, I was a racketeer, a gangster for capitalism. ... I helped in the raping of half a dozen Central American republics for the benefit of Wall Street. ... Looking back on it, I might have given Al Capone a few hints. The best he could do was to operate his racket in three districts. I operated on three continents."
That was written in 1935.

There is an astounding amount of public money chewed up in the corrupted system. At a time when nations are unable to pay for basic social services such as education, fire and ambulance service, roads etc. The money exists within public taxes. But it's purpose has been corrupted to serve private interest. Corporate welfare and subsidies and now trillion dollar bailout. So stop using that corrupted system already!! It's broken. Hurtful. Shameful. Been hijacked by rapists and thieves. So Stop Funding It With Your Patronage Please!! Start investing in community. Buy local lettuce +. Bank your money in local institutions that invest in community. Start a local business. Buy supply from local vendors and producers. ++ The majority of the economy is based on the money spent by the working class. That is significant power. The power of the free market. A great power literally at our fingertips. With an action as simple as voting with your billfold.
